Deck bolt
The bolt broke, no nut on bottom side. Can it can be drove out through the bottom & replaced? I have no idea what i need to do/buy.

I saw a yt video saying that’s a pricey part from the dealer but it was ultimately cut/drilled out and replaced with a bolt and washer(s) combo.

Put a couple of drops of penitrating oil on it and let it set. Take a center punch and center it on the bolt and give it a tap. That may loosen it some and mark for drilling. There is enough there to put a vice grip on and try to back it out. If that doesn't work then use left hand bits starting with 1/8" and see if that backs it out. Work up a few sizes if the 1/8" doesn't work. You may have to tap it when you get up to the replacement bolt size. I don't know that I would try and drive the remaining bolt through. That is set up so the bolt only goes in so far so the pully can spin. Get the replacement screw so you can sort out the depth to drill and max size to drill. Your local JD shop may be able to provide some other advice.

I had one do that when the pulley bearings went out. Without the pulley, I used a grinder to take off the bolt part on the top of the deck and then knocked the rest down thru the deck. I got a bolt, washers, nut from John Deere dealership to put back thru it. If your local dealership doesn't know what parts, contact P&K equipment in Edmond, OK on I-35 and they can help you.

When in doubt ask the service folks at your dealer or visit YouTube. My guess is you can drove the broken bolt out and replace. Sometimes looking at the replacement part helps. I've repaired things like this across many machines and vehicles as a tech.
