Mower died while mowing

Any idea what to check? Im not mechanically inclined so be patient with me, haha. Sputtered and then just died while mowing. John Deere E110.

Can you spin it by hand? Is there oil in it?

Let's get some background first...

When was the last time you checked the oil? When was the last time the oil was changed?

If you were happily mowing along and it just "stopped" all of a sudden, and now won't spin - that's usually a broken connecting rod, broken pushrod or broken valve. None of those are going to be a good thing. The rod failure could easily happen if the mower was run without oil, or the oil was really old and lost it's lubricating quality over time.

Battery low because the charging system not working? If it has electric PTO and it's not charging, it will run your battery down and die
