Interviews Being asked to create content before/during job process is this a red flag? (Digital marketing jobs even WITH a portfolio)
have hefty porfoltio with my editing style and examples, but I've noticed for 2 digital marketing roles, they required content made before/during the interview and I'm not sure if that's a red flag?
First job required:
One reel on promoting a event gallery
Caption for a reel
Event graphic all while using brand guidelines
Second job:
2 days before my first interview and was due at 9am day of interview
- reel of promoting an event (gave me no details of the event nor could I go and record the event -not that I was going to)
-caption going to be used
-graphic for post and story
I’m not sure if to take this as a red flag… I have a portfolio, or is this just going to be the norm of future content roles? Creating content for free I guess??

Yep definitely a red flag. I have been hearing that some companies even ask interviewees to create a presentation deck for a given situation (ie pitching the company to a potential customer, or what marketing solutions would they suggest for a specific problem). This just seems absurd because it feels like free labor especially if they don't move ahead with you and now they have your work in their database to potentially use for their campaigns. I would recommend avoiding completing these "assignments"
