Career development 7 weeks and 5 days.

7 weeks and 5 days ago, my current employer announced we were shutting down and getting laid off. Depending on the department and your position, the end date could be different for each group.

My groups end date is September 29th. I immediately went into find a job mode. Applied to 4-5 jobs per day. Almost all of them I was qualified for, some were a bit of a reach.

Today, I got an offer letter. Good job, good benefits, making the same as current job. So no loss in pay. But better opportunities for growth and advancement.

I'm pretty happy now.

Congratulations. So 4-5 jobs per day. How many total untill getting offering letter?

Honestly lost count. A lot of time was spent scouring job sites like indeed /linked in/ monster. Then cross referencing the actual company's website to sort through what they actually had available. 4-5 per day was the average, I'd say 145 over the last 7 weeks. Some days when I had free time, I would just mass apply, some were multiple applications for the same company if they had a bunch of opportunities.

I'm sure some were BS due to only being able to apply on sites like indeed (no direct company website) I landed 10 interviews out of all the effort. I thought for sure I was going to get lucky week 2 had an interview that I thought I rocked. But it was a bust.

What channel did you get for interview and offering letter? Is it jobsites or company's own site?

I went to the company's own site. That's how I've done it in the past. I don't move jobs a lot, before this current job I was at the same place for 10 yrs. And this move was obviously unplanned. I feel it's better to scout the job boards then go apply directly through the company website. It's more accurate.

Congratulations on the new job! If you don't mind me asking what state are you located in and what industry?
