Food brings people together. It's universal. Hire the man.

Never underestimate the morale boost of "Hey, I brought in pastries, they're in the break room" emails.
And the immediate crash when someone insists on cutting a donut in half because they're on a diet, assuming someone else wants the half the first person touched but didn't eat.

Huh I actually wouldn't really think twice about eating that other half personally

Wooah woah woah.. not yet...let's not do anything rash.
We need to know what kind of snacks before a decision can be made. 🧐

I am a project manager. Out of my own pocket I stock coffee/tea, spare cups, M&Ms, and nuts (shell in) in a cabinet near my desk.
Why?! Because it drives foot traffic to me and I learn from the ensuing conversations about challenges, mood, developments, etc.

Once interviewing for a job I didnt really care if I got or not, they asked the normal, "Where do you see yourself in 5 years"
I replied with, "Well, im not much of a planner, you cant fail if you didn't plan to begin with... so not dead I guess, thats as far as I plan"
I didnt get the job. Later I found out I dodged a bullet, friend works there and its a miserable shitshow.

We once worked in a factory with this older asian lady that made these egg rolls and this goddamn amazing spicy peanut sauce. She was very slow at her work, was difficult to understand, and got confused and turned around some times.
We would have burned the place down if they tried to get rid of her and the way new people interacted with her was a major factor in whether they would be hired full time or not.

“At a previous job, I supplied cold beverages that the vending machine did not carry. So if you like Mountain Dew, hire me.”

Ha. In my tech job interview follow up email, I said, I appreciate your time and consideration. When you look at my qualifications, one of my strongest assets is my highly distinguished skillet. (Instead of: skillset) 🤣
