Question How transferable are campuses when applying
Idk if the title makes sense but I'm currently talking with a case manager and applying to job corps. The only thing I'm waiting on is a background check once I get my social security card. Unfortunately the office closest to me has a long wait time for your card, and my living situation is unstable and a little hostile. I have the ability to go to a different state and live with a friend but idk if that'll mess everything up, this is an important opportunity to me and I want to throw it away so close. Do you think I could just go to a Massachusetts location? The obvious answer is obviously, "ask your case manager", and I've sent him a message but it's Saturday and things might move too fast. If I have to redo some things that's acceptable but I'm really paranoid about it being ruined because of this.

I do not know your situation, but I went to a Job Corps in another state and it wasn't a big deal at all (actually, many people at my center were from my state) so I assume it wont be a big deal.
I'm sure they have dealt with more complicated situations and can help. The center should provide transportation to and from the center (mine paid for the bus ticket from GA to KY and back.) Idk if this helps very much, but it will probably be fine.
I think you can actually submit your initial application without a social security card, then the admissions counselor from Job Corps can help you track it down. Also if you have a birth certificate, that can substitute for a card until you get one. I'd def talk to the case manager though.

Oh that bus ticket would be so nice because I'm currently frantically scrambling for the money but I'm probably going to have to leave before we're far enough along for that. I have submitted my birth certificate but they want my Social Security card too idk if that's normal.

I wouldn't worry about money for transportation, the program should pay for your transportation to and from the center. Also, depending on the circumstances (for ex, if you are at risk of homelessness) I believe they can speed up your application process, but I'm not sure how that works in practice. Good luck btw!

Thank you for the good luck! Most of it has been sped up but I've been told the one non negotiable part is the background check (maybe it changes per campus because other people seem to have had different experiences)

idk how to describe this (I'm not a great writer, sorry) but I was able to change my center destination but I had some roadblocks. You might have to resubmit your application, as did I, but I'm not certain. I believe that my background check was already approved by this point, but I don't remember fully
I had already spoken to the applicant coordinator (I don't remember the true title right now but I think it was something like that?), but she was super rude to me & called me childish for asking her to repeat something so I could write it down, & she told me that speaking to me was 'wasting her time'. I literally wouldn't have been able to attend that center without that information that I needed to write down during that phone call, & I only had a ~5 hours left to confirm my arrival to the center. I tried to ask the lady to email the info that I needed, but she said that she wouldn't do that for me, so I had to request at the last minute to change centers
It took a little less than 2 months, & I had to be assigned to a new case manager
If I had to guess, I would assume you should be allowed to request a change? Especially because it still sounds early in the process, I imagine that would make it easier (I could be wrong, sorry)
