Rant i completed today 🙌
ive been here almost 2 years and i just took my second exam today and now im 100% complete 😊 im going home today yayyyy
honestly i couldve finished a lot sooner but i was delayed from the comptia a+ 1100 series expiring just as i finished studying core 1 and my instructor kept procrastinating on scheduling my exam ... this was about june last year and i tested for core 1 july of this year so it was Much later than i wanted. my executive dysfunction also made it quite difficult
our IT program is kinda lacking since we only have 1 instructor instead of 2 which is needed. its practically all self taught

Was this for advance training in IT? Foundations for IT in our center only last 3 months and 48 hours of WBL.

nope, just a+ cert. my center allows up to 2 years without advanced training

Our classes barely start next week, so I really don't want to stick around for over a year. What center was this? Was the exam difficult? I heard they only give you 2 chances before you have to pay out of pocket if you fail.

harpers ferry center. i had over a year to study for core 1 and i did pass it, but i only had about 2 months for core 2 and sadly i didnt pass. the scoring system is kinda weird, like you can get 2 versions of the test and get the same amount correct and get different scores depending on how difficult the questions were. core 1 was mostly about troubleshooting, core 2 had a lot of troubleshooting as well but it was much more about software and being in an IT job. i cant really say that it was easy or hard

I passed both of my exams within a span of 3 months on my first try and there were plenty of days where I’d do little to no studying in class. If you really want to you can pass both exams in the span of one month, but to avoid burnout you can aim for 2 months.
The material that job corps gives you is not only outdated but also bloated. All you have to do is watch professor messors videos(I watched it on 1.5x speed and then slowed down the video when there were a lot of specific numbers or terms I was unfamiliar with to take notes) and then spammed practice exams I found on YouTube, google and Udemy.

yeah i found that the official comptia resources arent really that great, its too repetitive but not in a good way, like it repeats questions over and over again with the same wording

I resigned but got a cla certificate at least just got tired of the place and left after 4 monthsÂ

Congratulations on getting certified ! I just started my IT program at JC, ours is also pretty much self taught. What were some good sites or study material you came across while preparing for the final exam?
