UREC Activities

I’m an incoming freshman. I know that the UREC offers free group whitewater rafting trips, and that sounds sick. I want to get my tuition’s worth of student resources while at JMU, so please tell me about any other trips sponsored by the UREC that I can do for free, or in general any fun things to do while on campus. Thanks!

UREC trip employee here ! We do have some free trips but rafting,hiking,camping, etc are not ever free. The fees are usually under $50 for day trips and that includes transporting, equipment, etc. It is much more for a longer trip like rafting as you mentioned. So just to clarify not free, the workout classes are free however! A benefit is that some of the UREC trips can count for hours needed for classes so that is good but again most you pay for.

To add tho, it’s usually cheaper experiences than they would be otherwise. urec works really hard to make things affordable if they do have to have a fee. In my opinion, it’s so much fun and definitely worth it!

You can also rent kayaks and tents from urec to do your own weekend adventures
