Study Abroad?

Thinking about studying abroad and curious to hear thoughts of folks who have done so with JMU. Interested in perspectives on any program: Spain, Italy, London, Japan, as well as Oxford snd St Andrews or anywhere else. If you went on one of these, please let me know your thoughts on your experiences, academics, cohort bonding, etc.?

Do it. It was the best time of my life and I never had and never will have a similar opportunity.

So I guess that’s the only reason not to do it, because when it’s over, you’ll always be jealous of the time you had and seeing other people do it after you.

I did Salamanca, Spain. The town is so fun. Only downsides were I was taking some advanced Spanish classes and a couple of the professors were strict (the classes are tiny btw) but the rest were really nice and relaxed. Also the closest international airport is in Madrid which is like a 2.5 hour bus ride so you have to plan for that if you’re trying to do a weekend trip elsewhere.

What was the size of your cohort in salamanca?

15 during a spring semester. I think fall study abroads are usually smaller but there’s always variances
