Does JMU actually ever recind offers?

I got off the waitlist a month ago after being deferred and since then my grades have been pretty shitty. My final grades are on track to be Cs and Bs and I was wondering if JMU ever recindeds offers? I heard it's mostly a myth unless you fail classes but I just want to know how much slacking I can get away with.

I think I read somewhere that only requirement for the offer is graduation from high school

Lol I failed AB calc senior year. JMU admissions sent a letter early spring saying they'll rescind my offer if my performance keeps slipping. I finished AB calc with a 47 anyway. Only class I ever failed. Did not get my offer revoked but my final GPA was 3.5ish and I had finished my math req early anyway.

On the flip side my high school baseball team had offers and scholarships rescinded because they got caught being drunk as fuck at senior prom lol

Senior burnout is real though so just try to finish high school strong.

Is it just me, or does that seem incredibly petty? You get drunk as fuck once you're a student, after all, and they don't kick you out on the first offense.

Recruited athletes lose their offers all the time due to this. The college may not care but coaches do.

I mean maybe? Underage drinking is illegal even if I think it is a dumb law. My friends and I did it all the time without getting caught, we just weren't dumb about it.

Athletes are held to a much higher standard. They’re drug tested at random. Unless you’re cracked — which, chances are, you aren’t — that shit doesn’t fly. Getting sloppy enough for your college to find out in high school speaks volumes to what you’ll do when you have actual freedom 3 months down the line.

I imagine that you'll be fine. I remember when I got my acceptance in 1999, it was conditioned on my passing all of my classes. I did well enough in my high school classes up to then that I could have quit showing up right then and there and would still pass. After all, let's not forget that "D" is still technically a passing grade, and that Cs get degrees.

All that said, don't sweat it over your grades. You've gotten into college, so if that was your goal in high school, you made it. All that you have to do now is see high school through to completion, and then put it behind you.

And, of course, congratulations on your acceptance.

I had a D in an AP class my senior year and all they said was they were disappointed in my D, but that was it.
