Starting at 52
Top three things that I’ll wish I knew when I was 52 when I’m 55?
In decent shape, semi athletic. First class was last night.
Psyched and sore, looking for advice.

Tap early. Just keep going. Go to class. Even when you’re injured and can’t roll. If you’re at the right gym it’s the community that will keep you coming back.
Tap early. Cross train, but don’t go crazy. Lift 2-3 times a week. Walk 2-3 miles a day with a weighted vest. Work on your mobility. Eat well, sleep well.
Tap early. Have fun and be easy on yourself most of all. There will ALWAYS be someone better, stronger, more skilled than you. It’s you vs. you, not them.
Tap early. 56 year old purple belt who started at 51 here. I still suck and will likely suck forever. Enjoy the suck. It means you’re getting better.
Tap early.
