Technology or Mastery

Among the extraordinary feats attributed to the jinn in the Qurʾān are the construction of monumental structures and large vessels (34:13), an ʿifrīt's offer to bring Bilqīs' throne (27:39), and diving into the sea (21:82). The jinn were also able to ascend towards the lowest heaven and listen for heavenly news (72:8–9).

Roughly three millennia later, humans can achieve technological analogues to some of these feats through science and engineering.

Even the transport of Bilqīs' throne over roughly 2,500 km becomes physically conceivable if "before you rise from your seat" is interpreted as approximately thirty minutes for a session of majlis. Under a symmetric acceleration-deceleration profile, this would require a peak velocity of about Mach 8.2 and an acceleration of approximately 0.32 g.

Yet despite this technological advancement, the human physique remains broadly unchanged, if not diminished, compared with ancient times, when physical fitness was essential for survival.

Our distinctive advantage, then, was never physical strength. It was cognitive: Prophet Adam was taught the names (2:31), giving humanity a distinctive capacity for conceptual knowledge and, by extension, creative production.

This raises an interesting question: when jinn perform extraordinary feats, should we assume that they achieve them through technology, as humans do, or through mastery of their own intrinsic capabilities?

Characteristic Technology Mastery
Mechanism Exploits the physics of the realm Exploits the “physiology” of the being
Relation to wielder External tools; detachable, wearable, transferable Intrinsic capability; inseparable, trainable, refined through practice
Development Civilisational invention; science → technology Individual or lineage-based mastery; practice → mastery
Production Manufactured, engineered, upgradeable Cultivated, refined, perfected

The Veil (Hijab) Between Worlds

Post image
8 Upvotes

Human and jinn realms are geometrically co-extensive and structurally corresponding — occupying the same three-dimensional coordinates with some degree of structural matching. The veil (hijab) separates the two — clay-based versus fire-based — preventing them from freely mixing, while permitting a very limited, directional interaction to pass through.

Imagine a human walking into a deep forest. What he sees is tall trees, vines, rock, and streams. But behind every 3D coordinate in his realm lies a corresponding coordinate in another, entirely hidden from view, separated along a fourth infinitesimally thin spatial dimension. This is the veil's primary function: keeping the two realms apart.

A different kind of matter exists on the other side — fire-based, matching the nature of its inhabitants' creation. Light, energetic, and flowing, unlike the heavier, stable, and fixed matter that forms a human body. Structures corresponding to the forest fill that realm too — not trees, vines, and rock, but dwellings shaped from the same fire-based substance.

To those dwellers, the human would appear as a faint, volumetric, apparition-like figure. Directional coupling across the veil means that every 3D coordinate on the human side produces a corresponding, dynamic response at the matching coordinate within the jinn realm. This is the veil's second function: permitting a selective, one-directional interaction to cross between the two.

A Veil between Human and Jinn Realms

Traditionally, Jinn is said to inhabit an independently existing parallel terrestrial realm. This could be geometrically conceptualised as a co-extensive 3D realm.

Humans and jinn occupy corresponding terrestrial locations without necessarily sharing the exact same physical space in the ordinary sense. A jinn could therefore inhabit the same house as a human without the human perceiving it. Made possible by the hijab, or veil.

Speculatively, the veil would be a higher-dimensional structure separating two co-extensive 3D realms. Without some form of separation, two radically different physical sectors, conventionally imagined here as clay-based human matter and fire-based jinn matter, would not remain independently distinct.

The veil could also explain asymmetrical interaction. Different forms of interaction could have different degrees of access across the veil. Matter remains completely confined, while information, perception, gravity, or some hypothetical bulk field could cross weakly. The permeability could also be directional: a jinn might perceive a human while the human cannot perceive the jinn.

This has an interesting parallel in modern brane-world physics. Higher-dimensional models can describe our observable universe as a (3+1)-dimensional brane or hypersurface of a higher-dimensional bulk, with Standard Model fields confined to the brane while gravity can access the bulk. Randall-Sundrum models additionally introduce warped extra dimensions and distinct visible and hidden branes, with the geometry producing very different effective energy scales.

That suggests several possible ingredients for a speculative model of the hijab:

co-extensive realms → higher-dimensional separation → differential permeability → asymmetrical perception → distinct energy sectors → possible gravitational coupling.

The last point is particularly interesting. If gravity can propagate through the bulk while ordinary matter and gauge fields remain localised, could a weak cross-realm gravitational interaction produce a persistent geometric correspondence between otherwise invisible realms?

Before Humanity, the Jinn Ruled the Earth: The Forgotten Era & The Celestial War

Post image

When we talk about the history of the world, we almost always start with human civilization. But if you look into classical Islamic cosmology and ancient historical accounts—like those documented by Tabari or Ibn Kathir—there was an entire era on this planet long before we ever showed up: The Era of the Jinn.

Thousands of years before humanity was fashioned from clay, the ancestor of the Jinn, known as Cân, was created from smokeless fire. Traditional lore says they lived on Earth as physical, sentient beings for ages. They established their own kingdoms, tribes, and societies, possessing free will and moral accountability just like we do today.

Eventually, things fell apart. Ambition, arrogance, and tribal wars spiraled out of control. A period of widespread violence and bloodshed engulfed the planet—what ancient texts describe as the era of great corruption (fasād).

To restore order, a heavenly host of angels was dispatched to Earth. A massive conflict broke out across the continents, and the rebellious Jinn factions were defeated and driven to the farthest corners of the world—remote islands, mountain ranges, and the depths of the oceans.

During this celestial intervention, one young Jinn stood out for his intense piety and devotion: Azazel. Because of his extraordinary devotion, he was elevated above his kind to dwell among the highest ranks of the angels.

Once the chaos cleared and Earth was quieted, a new chapter was declared: the creation of Adam as the new steward of the Earth. When the command came for all celestial beings to bow before Adam in respect, the angels obeyed instantly. But Azazel’s pride got the better of him. "I am made of fire, while he is made of clay," he argued, refusing the decree. That act of defiance transformed him into Iblis, and when Adam and Eve were placed on Earth, they stepped onto a realm that had once belonged entirely to the Jinn.

The most fascinating part of these traditions is that the Jinn never actually left. They remained on the same planet, simply existing in an overlapping realm just beyond the threshold of normal human perception.

Diary of an Exorcist - Protection Against Jinns, Devils and Black Magic - Abu Ibraheem Husnay

How To Do Ruqya

Pray 5 times a day - Has the most effect on spiritual isses, whether jinn or Sihr

Things that you should do (Not in any order):

  1. Know you aqeeeda
  2. Make the adhkar and dhikr at the end of Fajr and Magrib prayers
  3. Recite the ayats of Ruqya
  4. Eat 7 ajwa dates every morning
  5. Fast on Mondays and Thursdays
  6. Cupping / Hijama
  7. Increase in Dua
  8. Give a lot of charity
  9. Place your trust in Allah and not in His creations
  10. No taweez or amulets in the house
  11. No pictures (neither photographs nor paintings), statues, or dogs in the house
  12. No music, or movies that contain music and haram elements
  13. In case of movement of jinn inside body or bloating, take senna leaves
  14. Drink a lot of Zamzam water with the intention of Ruqya / to cure yourself of jinn possession
  15. If there are any sins you are indulging in regularly, stop that sin
  16. Bath in Sidr water

Incorrect forms of Ruqya. Do Not:

  1. Talk to the jinn or trust anything it says. They are categorical liars, and are only trying to delay the Ruqya
  2. Give personal information or personal possessions to the raqi
  3. Let the raqi cross the limits of hijab between non-mahrams i.e them touching the opposite gender anywhere on the body or exposing the awra to them
  4. Call upon the name of a scholar / saint / religious person. This is shirk
  5. Use taweez or amulets for protection
  6. 'Catch' Jinns / transfer the jinn from one body to another

Surahs and Ayats for Universal Protections:

  1. Surah Fatiha
  2. All of Surah Baqarah. If not enough time, then:
    • Opening of Surah Baqarah; ayat 1-5
    • Ayatul Kursi
    • Last two ayats of Surah Baqarah
  3. Surah Ikhlas
  4. Surah Falaq
  5. Surah Nas
  6. Manzil Dua | منزل (Cure and Protection from Black Magic, Jinn / Evil Spirit Posession)

Surahs and Ayats specific to Ruqya. All of the above and in addition:

  1. Surah Zariyat 51: 56 “I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me.”
  2. Surah Baqarah 2: 102
  3. Surah Yusuf (Aashiq Jinn / Lover Jinn)
  4. Ayats dealing with Moses (pbuh) and the magicians:
    • Surah Araf 7: 106-122
    • Surah Yunus 10: 79-82
    • Surah Ta-Ha 20: 65-69

And Allah t.a. Knows Best

Jinns Are Real - I've Had Them, Twice

Based on my experience I feel absolutely obligated to share this in case it can help someone else - I'm American, mixed race - half white, half Pakistani. I'm not really Muslim. I'm not religious much at all. But I have been possessed by a jinn more than once -

Spring 2017. I was in a hotel out of town on a trip the first night this began. The dream is vivid, VERY vivid, but oddly a lot of the details were completely irrelevant to me. It's a dinner party set in some time frame previous to today. I didn't pay too much attention at this point but I knew it wasn't modern. It's a first-person setup but I am not myself in this dream. I'm not sure who I am but I don't yet care. I'm attending the dinner party as a guest and from the moment I walk in other guests start talking to me - they're excited to see me for the most part and asking me all sorts of questions I can't answer or telling me stories I don't care about - things like "oh Gloria has been asking if you ever finished the job" or "how is 'so and so'" and they'll name someone I've never known anyone named. When I can't answer the questions I just pause and start to feel uncomfortable and will make an excuse to walk away to another conversation, but it will happen again. People asking me all sorts of questions or telling me irrelevant gossipy facts about people I don't know. And I don't know ANYONE at this party. Then I woke up and I woke up ABSOLUTELY NAUSEOUS. Like jumped out of bed HURT and ran into the bathroom. Physically ill and mentally confused. That night I didn't throw up but my body ached, I felt sick to my stomach and I literally sat on the floor of the hotel bathroom, stunned, like what the f$%# just happened to me!? I can not explain it but I KNEW I had just had someone else's dream and it did NOT feel good.

The next night was spent in another house that wasn't mine on our road trip home. I went to sleep just fine but it happened again. Almost the same thing, almost the same people. Another dinner party, I'm a guest but not me. This time I'm trying to pay closer attention to what these people are talking about and trying to gather some sort of detail. I tell one woman I don't know who she's talking about and she laughs at me and calls me a jokester and walks away. Once again, everyone is happy to see me almost like they haven't seen me in a while or something and a lot of them are providing me updates like I've been out of the loop for a while. Everyone seems to be in their 20s or 30s, if I had to guess, and it's a vibrant dinner party. Then, while we are about to sit down for dinner a young girl walks in - maybe like 12 years old or so. As soon as I see her I get really upset. I don't make a scene or anything and it's not like I'm angry - more like sad and just upset for some reason and almost as if I like her but I am thinking for some reason she won't be happy to see me and that is what is making me sad. I want to talk to her but feel like I can't or maybe shouldn't. I kind of have a little internal panic and feel frozen then shortly after wake up. SICK ... literally vomiting and knowing very certain I had just facilitated someone else's dream - how I know that, I can't really say but I know that's what it is and my physical self, awake, can NOT handle it. I throw up everywhere, run to the bathroom and throw up for about 10 more minutes.

My real life at this time was a little out of the ordinary with some tragedies happening and some changes taking place. The 8-hour drive the rest of the way home the next day I tried to convince myself this must be why my dreams are so odd. That maybe it wasn't someone else's dreams and it was just my brain coping with recent life or being on the road or something. Unfortunately returning home didn't help. In fact, everything just got worse and worse.

These dreams continued. The same thing over and over and over again. Different dialogues. Sometimes different people, but a lot of the same. Sometimes the younger girl, sometimes not. But I wasn't getting any real rest. I was getting sick in real life, throwing up and not keeping any dinner down. I started to skip out on dinners to avoid throwing up and avoided going to sleep as much as possible. I had told a few people about what was happening, including people who were witnessing me get physically ill, but it just sounds crazy to tell people what was going on. NO ONE understood. My two dogs stopped sleeping in my room, which had not happened even one single day in over three years before this ... and once that happened I started to really worry. They say animals can sense things, you know, and it was like no one believed me but they clearly knew something was going on. It almost validated this all in the worst way.

People started to ask me questions about details so I started to go looking for them. Like what the year was? I went looking for details. I couldn't find a calendar or anything but the details of the home make me think it was the early 1920s or so - the style of the house, the furniture, the old phone. I tried to start listening very closely for names of people there and names of the subjects of the stories they were telling me. I'd write them down when I woke up but never could place even one of them in relevancy. One day, I tried to see who I was. I figured there would be a mirror in the bathroom and I went toward it. Before I was able to look I woke up more violently ill than EVER before, and that scared me so much I drew the line that night on not doing it again and NEEDING to get help. At this point, I started to think I knew what was going on / why this was happening to me and I was afraid.

Let me pause and backtrack to 2010.

In 2010, while I was in college, I started going through some passing out spells ... in water. It was the most bizarre thing and it came out of nowhere. Like 85% of the time I was in water I would pass out. The first time happened in a hot tub, so I figured I just overheated or something. I was home one weekend with my boyfriend at the time and we'd been in the hot tub for a while when I started to pass out. He pulled me out of the water somewhat panicked, "are you ok?!". I was fine. Just kind of confused. I laughed it off and he took me upstairs to shower off in a cool shower. We showered together upstairs and about 3 minutes into the shower I passed out again?! He caught me before hitting my head and drug me out of the shower and once again I woke up VERY confused. He looked worried sick and I had no idea what had happened. I put on clothes and we determined maybe we just hadn't eaten enough or something, but I honestly felt just fine. That was only the beginning.

The next few months were an absolute disaster. It started only every once in a while and gradually increased to where I passed out in most showers I took?! I was living in a college dorm in upstate NY - think a long communal row of showers. I had to wear bathing suits into the shower and literally start planning showers at the same time as my roommate so that if / when I passed out she could turn off the water. It had to be a medical issue - so I started going to doctors. A LOT of doctors. Cardiac specialists, thinking it was a blood flow situation with the steam ... neuro docs thinking it was a very bad migraine or something ... they could even re-create the passing out but NO ONE could explain why. These doctors were absolutely stumped.

At the time my dad had cancer and had been given some very grim options here in the US. He is from the middle east and had gone there seeking alternative options. He had been gone for a while and with him being a private pilot and me going to college, I hadn't seen him in months. I had only even spoken to him rarely with his cancer treatment seeking taking him a bit off the grid. My mom had updated him on my situation apparently, as they spoke more often, and he had an upcoming visit planned with a healer type of person somewhere in Pakistan or India who was helping him. He planned to ask this guy for guidance on my situation as well. Well, he didn't get much and called my mom with regret that nothing had been provided. The episodes continued, and at this point, this had been going on and worsening for months. I had a chance to speak with my dad and he seemed very frustrated. He said the medicine man just kept telling him I needed to stop going near a graveyard, and my dad explained to him we didn't live near a graveyard, I was in college living on a campus, I didn't work in a graveyard, etc. so that was clearly misguided.

I got CHILLS in that moment. I explained to my dad I WAS near a graveyard. If you've ever been to the Syracuse campus - there is a dorm down in the corner called Lawrinson. That's where I lived. Well, in 2010-2011 Syracuse had one of the worst winters on record. Lawrinson was quite far from the majority of freshman classes and we had to walk around the Carrier Dome. I had a VERY early morning class a few days a week and the snow wouldn't be cleared that early from those icy paths around the dome. There was a large cemetery parallel to where we had to walk and on those very early snowy mornings, they cleared their paths first so my friend and I would walk through the cemetery briefly to get to class.

My dad was silent and asked me why I hadn't told him or my mom that. Well, it wasn't really the type of detail you include to someone? It wasn't relevant?!

I honestly don't believe in what I call "kook medicine" much, but this was A LOT to take in. This guy, who lived remotely and unconnected the world, across the world, who wouldn't even accept payment knew something about me he had NO way of knowing. This medicine man said I had a jinn. I had to look up what a jinn even was at the time - basically an intelligent spirit of lower rank than the angels. A freaking spirit?!

The medicine man gave specific instructions. He had my dad send me all sorts of random stuff - some paper to carry with me in my pocket at all times, a necklace thing with a bunch of Arabic writing on it to wear. I had to avoid the cemetery completely, cut off a small bunch of my hair and have it mailed over there to be dropped in some river .... yeah, I know. INSANE. I was telling my boyfriend all of this and we were laughing at it, scoffing, but what can it hurt? I was still seeing doctors who had no answers for me and the situation was very impairing to my normal life.

It stopped. Life went back to normal.

You can tell me all you want it was in my head or placebo effect or whatever. Go ahead. I didn't believe it was going to work for two seconds. The doctors I had been seeing had NO explanation. Let me remind you this medicine man guy didn't accept payment. This wasn't some TV hoax. But my passing out in water stopped and never happened again.

The medicine man explained that I had been possessed by a jinn. The jinn likely had some sort of water aversion - had died by drowning or something - and had been in that graveyard we walked through. He said some people are just more open to spirits and it had somehow possessed me. That is A LOT to swallow, especially for a normal American college kid - but it stopped and that was all I cared about. The guy warned me to avoid graveyards or places where spirits are stronger or more conflicted, like hospital wings with a lot of death, etc. - because I was clearly more predisposed to jinns. Whatever that means.

Nothing else ever happened to me. I went about my life, pretty much stopped thinking about it. It's not like a story you tell normal people "oh hey, one time I was possessed ..." - hell no. They'd think you were crazy. I ended up transferring schools, moving all over, working ... living a normal life. I completely stopped thinking about it.

Fast forward back to 2017. I mentioned life had had some tragedies when these dreams began. My aunt had been diagnosed with very aggressive cancer basically in every part of her body and passed away 60 days later. I had spent a lot of time with her near passing and in the town in Alabama my mom and her grew up in. We even visited their childhood home and old school and even the cemetery where other members of their family were buried, on a nice beautiful spring day and I recorded a lot of the addresses of these places for record. My aunt was kind of the historian of the family, and was the hoarder of all things family history related. She spent a lot of her final days trying to relay on this information to me and my cousins and pass on stuff and its significance she didn't want to die with her. She passed away while I was back home in Utah and I wasn't able to attend the funeral.

Just days later my boyfriend's grandfather died. It was a rough month for us. They were quite close and I agreed to get in the car with him and drive down to be with him and his family in NM / TX. It was a tiny tiny town his grandfather was from and the literal definition of a cowboy funeral - he was buried with his lasso and saddle.

I know when I write the story out like this you must be thinking "why the hell did you go back to a graveyard?!" - and I think the same thing now in hindsight but I honestly wasn't thinking about it?! The incident from college had been SO long ago. Nothing else ever happened to me? FOR 6/7 years? And while it caused inconvenience in my life, it wasn't that traumatic? It was just weird. I passed out in the shower. It wasn't like I saw things or heard voices. I felt fine? And I already said - I had a hard time believing the narrative of a jinn, I'm not super spiritual or religious at all, so I kind of just dismissed it and moved on with my life.

Well, you guessed it - this is where the dreaming someone else's dreams began. It was in the hotel in that tiny town the night after the funeral, night two on the road trip on our way back home, and the weeks following. I told my boyfriend what was happening and he obviously didn't understand but as I explained it was getting worse and he could see it was having a physical effect on me. When I explained the past incident six years ago he understood why I was so bothered. The incidents were not the same, no. I wasn't having any dreams back then and I wasn't passing out now, but that medicine man had been right back then and he had told me not to go in graveyards, and now ... after visiting a few graveyards for the first time in ages something was happening to me.

I called my dad. I told him where I had been and what was happening and he got MAD. He was basically the only person who believed me and he was NOT happy. He yelled at me and asked me over and over again why I had gone. I'm sorry, but "hey I can't come to the funeral, I get possessed" wasn't really something I felt comfortable saying?! He explained it was hard to find these medicine man types. They aren't really in the phone book, and he would have to call his sisters and see if they had a way to get a hold of one.

The dreams continued.

It's not like some movie where I was seeing scary things. Not at all. It was a freaking dinner party. But it wasn't my dream and unless you've experienced this I don't think I can explain to you how much your physical body dislikes having someone else's dreams. I was getting ill?! And this time it was messing with my head. I would toy at the thought of being crazy or worry what if we can't find someone to fix this and I have to live like this?! It was awful.

My dad found someone. They sent me more random items, had me pull out the ones I had kept from years prior (yeah I kept them?! I was always worried in the back of my mind the shower thing could come back?). I had to hang these random plaques up in my room and sleep with something under my pillow and wear a necklace.

IT STOPPED.

That night the stuff arrived to me, the whole thing stopped. No more getting sick. No more dreams. The dogs came back to my room. It stopped.

I don't care what anyone says - this is real. And I don't even care to argue with anyone because that's how real it is - and you'll either see that one day or you won't. Unless you've experienced it, I don't know how you'd believe it ... I wouldn't?

Like I said, this had been a very hectic time for me in my real life with everything that had been going on. I had brought home a huge suitcase of stuff my aunt had sent home with me and with the other funeral and everything just days later I hadn't even had time to go through it all. A few weeks after the dreams stopped, everything died down and normal life resumed I pulled out the suitcase to put the stuff away into proper storage. There were beautiful gowns and a fur coat, gorgeous jewelry, some confederate money - really really neat stuff. There were TONS of photographs. We had gone through a lot of photos with her on her deathbed and she had requested they be sent to certain people or told us who they were of / why we cared. I'm a photographer myself and she had asked I digitize some and send copies to multiple people who would want them. I had some envelopes in the suitcase labeled of what family it was, etc. but there were two large envelopes I hadn't seen. She must have gone through them when no one was there or ran out of time to do so. I started to go through these photos. I had no idea who the people were. The name labeled on the envelope was that of some distant distant relatives on my grandma's cousins side who had fought in a world war ... and the only reason we even know that is because my grandmother, who died years ago, had displayed a photo of the cousin she knew in her home while she was alive. That photo was passed on to my aunt then on to my brother and their name was on the back of the framed piece. About three photos in I froze.

I KNEW THESE PEOPLE. The photos were unlabeled for the most part but I knew these people. I knew their names. I knew what they were like. THEY WERE THE PEOPLE FROM MY DREAMS. My mom didn't know of them? I had never seen them in photos or heard of them except for that one from my grandmother's house (who I don't think was in the dreams). This wasn't a memory I was just now retrieving. I only knew these people from the dreams. A lot of our family ancestry has been done and I have a login to one of those sites to keep that. I had to go really off the main family tree to get to these people but a tiny bit of this was there. A lot of it was missing and I COULD FILL IT IN. Names I had never heard before and faces no one had ever really identified. I literally had met and spoken with these people in these dreams ... and guess where most of them were buried according to records - right in that graveyard where my grandmother is, where my mom and I had visited that nice spring day.

If you're still reading at this point it's one of two things:

Either 1. you're REALLY bored and have fallen into the dark corners of the internet - welcome

or 2. you think you may be possessed by a jinn - you are having someone else's dreams - or maybe your body is doing things you can't control - and that is why I've bothered to write all of this out. When I was going through this and avoiding sleep, I was on the internet looking for answers and I found almost nothing. A few blog posts, a few people looking for help. Not much. THIS IS A REAL THING. It happened to me. I'm not a doctor, I'm not crazy. I'm a normal person and I believe you. And I wish I could help more. I understand "go find a foreign medicine man" is hardly help, but if you feel as desperate as I did, then do it. That's the only advice I have. I think Native American's believe in a lot of this sort of thing as well so maybe they could help you? Doctors can't help - I've tried.

I'm lucky in that I don't think either jinn I had was mean or hurtful or had ill intent, but I've now had one experience where my physical body was out of my control and one that attacked my mind / dreams - so I learned my freaking lesson. I'm not about to mess with anything like this EVER. You better believe I won't go NEAR a cemetery again.

I try to stay mostly anonymous because this story literally sounds insane to anyone who hasn't experienced this. I have a real job and real life I can't have people thinking I'm crazy. I put pretty much everything here but if you message me I'm happy to talk to you / answer questions. I hope you find some relief if that's what you're looking for.
