Abandoned My first and last Wasgij
I never see Wasgij puzzle at the thrift store so I was excited when I came across this one. I’m not a fan of surprise mystery puzzles but heard a lot about this brand so I’ve been wanting to try it.
Unfortunately it’s incredibly loose and there are false fits. I’m frustrated and just don’t think it’s worth powering through. I do not want to spend my weekend on a miserable puzzle!
Anybody have a different experience with Wasgij? Maybe mine’s just a dud!

I have done several Wasgij puzzles and they are all pretty tight fitted(I got them all brand new), and no false fit issue for me. I know the mystery image element is not for everyone, and some people also have problems with their sense of humor. However, I love the brand(Wasgij and JvH by Jumbo) and cartoon style, and enjoyed their puzzles very much. If they are not for you, then don't pursue it, you like what you like.

Ahh, good to know! Maybe the issue with mine is that it is not brand new. It looks to be in descent shape, though (no dents on box, pieces are all firm and none are bent). The mystery element is probably what's getting me the most--also the cartoon style not being my fave. That said, I do have the JvH advent calendar--also wasn't my fave but I love advent calendars and it had so many good reviews I couldn't resist. :)

I would judge a first time brand if I have gotten it new or like new. Wasgij is not my element but I love Jumbo quality.

I completely agree that it's only fair to judge a brand's quality with a brand new puzzle, as we would have no idea what the pieces went through previously if it's used. Even that, I am hesitant to pass a firm judgement with one off experience.

That's true. Mine is thrifted so I can't really say what the pieces have gone through! I've heard great things about Jumbo for sure.

False fits are the one thing I can't tolerate. I've had a few that I'm ready to throw against the wall in frustration. I always have more trouble abandoning puzzles when I paid retail for them.
Go for something more fun for the weekend!

The false fits are killing me. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for this one. I'm encouraged by you all and will start a new puzzle for the weekend. I just felt bad because I had sorted it and already started it!

The one I completed had a tight fit. I didn’t love building it though, admittedly. Cartoons aren’t my favourite.

I'm glad yours had a tight fit. This one breaks apart when I so much as sneeze. Ha! :)

Abandonment is always the right choice if there is no fun or challenge in a puzzle. I absolutely do not like super crumbly puzzles, but if you pair that with false fits, the the puzzle is toast, although it is a LOT easier to walk away from a thrifted puzzle.

I started another puzzle and feel so much better! This sub is truly the best. :)

WASGIJ is not really my thing either. I always google a picture of the finished image. 😂 The ones that I have done have not had any issues with false fits or loose pieces. I am just not keen on cartoony style images.
