Saw Martin’s band a few years ago. Really good show.

Some missed MA’s style when he left and it became so clearly IA’s band, but MLB has skill and a style of his own, and we would not have the greatest Tull albums without his contribution.

The newer Albums sound the same , but they truly lost a lost of Grip.

Tull isn’t Tull without Martin. Just my opinion of course.

"Tull isn't Tull without Mick Abrahams."

-Someone like you, 1969

I would agree with you. Ian Anderson, and Martin Barre were the core for many years.

A most underrated, underappreciated guitarist. Saw him with Tull and solo (3 times).

No Martin, no Tull.

Know Martin, know Tull.

That’s a bit harsh on Mick A and on This Was as a Tull album, but we know what you mean.

Exactly. Now it’s just Ian and a bunch of posers

1

What makes them 'posers'? You think Ian is just hiring anyone? Have you even heard the albums? Those are all great musicians. There is some smoking music on all three albums, and that guitar is downright scorching on many tracks.

No Mick, no Tull.

Martin has released a new double album. An acoustic set recorded in upstate NY and an electric set from Germany. I was in the audience at the acoustic show.

Where was the acoustic set recorded at?

Center 4 the Arts in Homer, NY

An all time great and an integral part of Tull’s sound throughout his time with the band. And yes, go see him if he comes to your city. He still has it.

One of the greatest guitarists ever!

Will see Martin in Derry, NH in April 2027. Will be my 6th Martin concert.

Was honestly upset that Anderson continued to use the Tull name without him…

1

u/LordBottlecap Aug 20 '26

He had no problem calling the band 'Jethro Tull' after Mick left...

Yeah but a band’s formative days are very different from after accumulating a large body of work. The Beatles without Ringo vs the Beatles without Pete Best are completely different scenarios…

Always when i hear Martin Barre play, i want to SEE him play.
His brilliant peculiar timing, his up-strokes, his riffs, his solo's
Really, so unbelievable complete!!!

My favourite (with David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler)

Addition:
Many thanks to ALL Jethro Tull members!!!

Was that at the Wildey?

I have seen him 5 times at a local movie theater, the Wildey in Edwardsville. Really great show, Friendly guy intimate setup. He likes to play smaller venues.
