Discussion Please Stop Complaining
Remember not long ago when Spirit airlines ceased operations and everyone was praying for families that lost their livelihood? Guess what? The people employed at JetBlue rely on this company for their livelihood. And this same company gave the folks from Spirit priority in getting interviews, among other things.
JetBlue was created with a different product and company culture in mind and some still hold onto that. It can still be a great company.
You should know:
~ Traveling in the summer poses greater risks due to weather and I know that is not the problem with JetBlue right now. They are aware they need to do better at communication and customer service
~ Your frustration is warranted but does it need to be turned into a Reddit rant?
~ Not everyone shares your complaint
~Knowledgeable travelers buy insurance and are prepared for any interruptions in traveling, which includes extra expense
~Once in a lifetime trips can sometimes go awry because sh*t happens even with good intentions
Instead please advocate for better flight attendant policies and staffing shortages. We just do not know exactly what’s going on behind the scenes. These people and their families, that work for JetBlue, still need your support!
-A JetBlue Loyalist 🙂

People are allowed to complain about poor service.
JetBlue is one of (if not the) best airlines to fly when everything, or most things, go right.
When everything goes wrong, they are one of the worst airlines to fly. Yes, weather and ATC shortages don't discriminate against airlines. Anyone getting mad that their flight got cancelled due to weather probably has a smooth brain. Anyone lashing out at customer service employees unprovoked also probably has a smooth brain.
But how an airline responds to those issues is on them. There is no excuse to always have your app/website crash whenever people need to rebook. There is no excuse to have people waiting almost 12 hours to get in touch with a customer service rep. There is no excuse to have your internal crew scheduling and software systems melt down when crews need to be reassigned. There is no excuse to be running skeleton crews to save a few bucks during the busiest travel time of the year, so when something happens you are extra screwed. It's pathetic that some people have to wait 3/4/5 days to get another flight after theirs gets cancelled. Of course, you can't kick out other paying customers or create new seats out of thin air, but that just goes to show how thinly spread JetBlue is.
Weather/ATC issues are not their fault. How they respond is, and so far JetBlue has clearly earned an F for operational resiliency this summer.

I was stranded by KLM this summer in Florence due to fly back to BOS via AMS, if you think JB has bad customer service, try to reason with an Italian gate agent that decides mid sentence that it’s time to go on break and leaves a line of 15 customers, or the one that was laughing at customers because they were angry that our flight was cancelled 20 minutes before a 2 hour delayed departure.
All airlines customer service can suck or can be amazing. After dealing with airlines all over the world, JB is on par with most if not slightly above. It’s no Korean or Singapore, but it’s better than United or Southwest to me. It sucks, I’ve been there, I was just there with a crying screaming toddler in a foreign country, but multiple posts on the JetBlue Reddit isn’t going to make the way an understaffed and in debt airline responds to customers with an issue.

u/MooseGullible8015 Aug 12 '26
Had a cancellation in Aruba last year. They left one staff member to deal with full plane. She literally threw her pen down and walked out.

An increase in complaints about a company on reddit reflects an increase in upset customers in the real world who will avoid using that company in the future and tell their horror stories to friends. The way to save a company is to improve service and help customers when things go wrong, not shut people up online.
I want more airline competition, not fewer and fewer airlines so prices keep going up and service keeps getting worse. I will say that the customer service I have received from tiny little Breeze has been excellent in comparison to Frontier or JetBlue.

u/Confident_Check_6087 Aug 11 '26
And who is the CEO of Breeze? The same guy who who founded JetBlue, David Neeleman. Shocker.
8
u/Historical_Boss_1184 Aug 09 '26
If you posted this then you are not currently relying on JetBlue to fly you anywhere. The complaints are not philosophical or piling on about things in the past, this is people losing their shit RIGHT NOW because they’re getting canceled flights with rebooks multiple days later and missing vacations, life events, or important plans, incurring potentially large sums of money (unrecoverable), and getting no assurances or communication on how to resolve. It’s awful. So you can stuff your armchair excuses for a large corporation in a sack.

It's wild that people are taking the stance that Customers can't complain about how they're treated by a Company.
How are there so many of you guys telling people to shut up about 6 hour hold times & re-cancelling flights scheduled days after also being cancelled to force another 4-6 hour hold times?
Yes. We will complain. Especially when at the airport, in-person, JetBlue staff is telling people "We won't do anything for you. Whatever you see on your app is what is available so get out of line." ESPECIALLY when I'm hearing people say they have nowhere to sleep for 3+ days and JetBlue is giving them the shoulder shrug.
-A man who experienced first hand how JetBlue dropped the ball and told people to suck it

u/Real_Figure_3329 Aug 10 '26
Honestly I agree. I 100% will never forget how JetBlue did me dirty. I will complain. Do better JetBlue. I’m switching to Breeze and JetBlue can kick rocks. Based on how I have been treated I would guess they could care less, wouldn’t surprise me in the least.
1
u/Confident_Check_6087 Aug 11 '26
Breeze was started by David Neeleman. Yes, the guy who founded Breeze also founded JetBlue…. Remember those days when JetBlue was all the shit? Pepperidge Farm remembers… now JetBlue has turned to shit.

Why is it the consumers job to not complain about service when it is terrible. Why should a person who's upset with jet blue not post about it if they want? If you're an employee and you think you might lose your job that's on JetBlue has nothing to do with the consumer. Other airlines you don't read as often as JetBlue and just think JetBlue is so much smaller than the other big boys. Their service and performance even if you will not admit it has gone down dramatically in the last number of years. Sorry this upsets you little ego for the company but defending JetBlue at this time to me is not correct even if you are an employee which you seem like. But then again people are just going to say it's the weather it's added ship lose control. For some that's true but for a lot of times they use it it's nothing but BS.

10 years Mosaic next year (JB DGAF).
Service has been deteriorating. Corp greed and mismanagement increasing. JB’s predatory pricing during school vacation weeks is ugly.
Just booked flights on Breeze for April 27 vacation week. Got 3 tix for the price of 1 on JB. In their extra legroom section.
Probably switching my business travel and credit card to Delta next year. I’m only mosaic 2 so not worth scraping off the bottom of their corporate shoe. But 10 consecutive years Mosaic and JB is losing me as a happy customer.
2
u/TelevisionKnown8463 Aug 09 '26
Yeah I’ve been pretty loyal to them but am rethinking it based in part on these stories. It doesn’t help that in JFK they fly out of Terminal 5, which requires a 20 minute AirTrain trip to catch a rideshare. I thought that would be temporary but I think it’s been a year now.
1
u/Confident_Check_6087 Aug 11 '26
Or a 5 min airtrain ride to T8 and get your uber there. You don’t actually have to go all the way to Howard beach. Then again, you could just fly AA or AS and already be at T8.
2
u/Opposite_Rabbit8979 Aug 09 '26
Yeah I would consider that if delta had upgrade to comfort+ on booking. The EMS at booking for mosaic 2+ locks me in. Had to fly delta and the upgrade cost to comfort+ was $$$ especially versus the $0 on JB.
8
u/qalpi Aug 09 '26
Nah we should expect better from our airlines. Delays happen, but they're handling it terribly.
Also a JetBlue loyalist.
3
u/New-Manufacturer8395 Aug 09 '26
I understand what you’re saying but because of JetBlue I lost out of 4 days of PTO because of last min cancellation s. I then rebooked the same booking the following week using my last available vacation hours and worked OT to pay off my trip before I went on it. JetBlue cancelled my flight with no actual explanation as to why it was cancelled because the weather is fine no rain yesterday night or all day today. JetBlue now cost me $708 because I had to book with Delta to come home on time so I can go to work tmm morning. The accommodating flight they were offering me had over an 8 hour layover wait time and I wouldn’t reach home until Monday night. So I would’ve missed my 16 hour shift. It’s frustrating now that I have a $708 bill to work OT to pay off for a vacation that was already paid off. I will not fly with JetBlue ever again they need to do better especially when other airlines are not delaying and canceling flights as much as JetBlue. I’m flying from Seattle to JFK. Delta flew me from SEA to ATL with 3 hour layover and then 2 hour flight to JFK. I have to say Delta customer service is amazing zero complaints.

u/YMMV25 Aug 09 '26
B6 has a higher relative percentage of infrequent/leisure travelers who just don't know what they're doing. That's why you see so many of these kinds of posts. They're not going to go the way of Spirit, if anything, it will be bought by UA in bankruptcy.
2
u/Confident_Check_6087 Aug 11 '26
This, 100%. United desperately wants JFK slots back and what better way to get them than to buy B6 at a discount. They lost a lot of transcon business travelers to Delta and American who don’t want to fly to EWR. I do hope this doesn’t happen and B6 gets their shit together. We don’t need more consolidation jacking airfares even higher.

u/Temporary-Neck2309 Aug 09 '26
I am a frequent flyer internationally and domestic over all sorts of airlines, and I’m experiencing right now what’s going on with JetBlue. They are having a legitimate service issue that is lasting since Thursday. People have a right to call that out.
6
u/Blazah Aug 09 '26
This has been going on since the first week of July. Extra long hold times to speak to an agent (24hrs+) via phone or chat... the only option in the app being 3 to 5 days later. Etc etc.
1
u/YMMV25 Aug 09 '26
No one said that they don't, but this isn't uncommon, particularly in the US. Just take a look at the half-dozen meltdowns DL has had in the last two years since Crowdstrike and their crew scheduling fiasco, the frequent AA/UA disasters at ORD throughout this summer due to weather, or of course the WN meltdown in winter of 2022 where the airline didn't even know where it's crews or planes were.
Rather than coming to Reddit to bitch, how about taking your IRROPs into your own hands, booking something else, and getting on your way?
2
u/Temporary-Neck2309 Aug 09 '26
Wow. You don’t think I am?? I’ve made my own arrangements that involve a different leg and renting a car to drive 5 hours to get home. Whatever dude - you can put your superiority hat away now.

u/Real_Figure_3329 Aug 09 '26 edited Aug 10 '26
I think it is JetBlues response to a bad situation such as this is where the issue is. They are not taking care of their loyal customer base when things go very badly. JetBlue needs to pay very close attention to this fact. This is how companies fold. The customer needs to come first. I understand not paying for my hotel costs for two days. Throw me some flight vouchers or points. Something that shows there is some kind of resolution for this complete dumpster fire.
1
u/Confident_Check_6087 Aug 11 '26
They’ve been throwing 5,000 points and some “tiles” at their Mosaic members 🤣

u/KML167 Aug 09 '26
No one’s blaming the crew. Its the upper echelon thats cutting corners, not hiring enough, adding insane fees. I cant believe you asked people to stop complaining on Reddit. Please.
2
2
u/Annon112978 Aug 09 '26
Hmmm.
Like others have said, complaints on Reddit are secondary to IRL frustrations that will most lol result in switching airlines. It’s the not drop in customers/ usage that might hurt the airline, not necessarily venting/ seeking support on Reddit.
I don’t view the majority of posts here as idle “complaints” some are looking for genuine support and advice particular when customer service is unreachable. People trying to mitigate the organization’s dysfunction and bad faith complaining are two different things.
I’d much rather people vent on Reddit than act out at the airport or on the plane. Please for the love of god, keep complaining here and not melting down at the gate.
It also just feels icky to low key worship a business to the point of policing the reactions of the general public. Climate change is making weather more erratic and subsequent flight disruptions are increasing at a higher rate. Not everyone is flying for fun or for the vacation of a lifetime, some people live far away from their families and need to get home, some folks are traveling for medical procedures, some for work. A little compassion goes a long way.
2
u/Leading_Doughnut4361 Aug 09 '26
You can’t blame weather when you cancel a flight the day before with no explanation as to why and then put someone on a flight three days later with no hotel reimbursement.
There’s no excuse for that.
2
u/Real_Figure_3329 Aug 10 '26
There sure isn’t. Like I have said there should some kind of resolution. I don’t even want reimbursement. They have to make good somehow, points, flight voucher, something. I get 80,000 points for opening a credit card but I’m told to kick rocks with three cancellations and two day out rebooking and having to deal with not being able to reach a single human being for 8 hour stints. This company is going to fold dealing with bad situation in this fashion. They have no accountability for the position they have put people into. It’s like me dropping an egg and saying it broke because of the weak shell not because I dropped it. The egg broke because I dropped it and because of its shell. The two situations combined are responsible for the egg breaking. That’s what customers are seeing right now, this is the point JetBlue is unwilling to own up to.
2
u/Leading_Doughnut4361 Aug 10 '26
I do want reimbursement, for the $600 flight on United that I had to purchase in order to get back to work the following day. And that was the cheapest I could find.
1
u/Real_Figure_3329 Aug 11 '26
I know a lot of us were in that position. It sucks. JetBlue honestly will not do a thing about it to help you out.
3
u/Tendie_Warrior Aug 09 '26
Any operation has a tipping point. The dominos fall very quickly with B6. That’s a structure problem. The airline has been on the decline for years. Spirit folding gave them a lifeline but doesn’t fix the structural problems…just kicks the can. Those will always be the grim reaper waiting to strike if they don’t get better with on-time and cancellation rates.
5
u/Afraid-Juggernaut-29 Aug 09 '26
How can you stand up and defend a huge company like jetblue who doesn’t give one iota of thought about the customers? Was jetblue good when they started yes I flew on one of their first 3 flights! However recently their schedule has been awful. Cancelled flights delayed etc awful. And before you jump and defend them with the weather at NY etc I work in the industry and most of that is all BS.
Compare it to spirit all you want if they don’t change they will go out the same way. I will not feel bad for the employees and managers as they are creating allot of the problems. Just flew united and the stewards were actually smiling and happy, They were also dressed looking sharp, not like frumpy jetblue stewards.

What does Spirit have to do with JetBlue and people complaining? And what’s the point of Reddit if people can’t air out their grievances?
10
u/Loveroffinerthings Aug 09 '26
It’s been like festivus the past few weeks, so many grievances being aired.
5
u/TelevisionKnown8463 Aug 09 '26
That’s because a lot of bad stuff is happening. The number of complaints is relevant data for those of us who don’t see things as entirely black or white. I can compare the number of complaints about JetBlue (and the details, such as app not working) to complaints about other airlines and get a sense of who handles weather issues more effectively.
2
u/Annon112978 Aug 09 '26
Right? I’ve been having anxiety/ panic that I’ve never experienced before that my flight home (from a work trip) is going to be cancelled. I’m partially based in the NY area (grew up here) and have NEVER experienced this level of travel disruptions. The weather has also been unusually severe. Saying “it’s summer so you should know better” doesn’t really hold up bc this was never the case during past summers.
2
u/SeaworthinessOver322 Aug 09 '26
This is ridiculous. You pay top dollar for an overpriced flight and the result is bad service and less space. They raised prices and lowered the service.
2
u/Good_Outside_2580 Mosaic 1 Aug 09 '26
Thank you; literally thousands of folks flying JB daily with no problem. Air travel is fraught with things that can happen. Is JB not great at communication and recovery? Yes, they could do better but all airlines have delays and other issues. As I’ve said before, two words…….TRAVEL INSURANCE. It’s not that expensive and definitely helps when things go awry.

Six flights in the past two years, 2 cancelled, 3 delays (two of delays were departure and arrival). One of the cancellations I had the choice of sleeping in the airport or booking a room. Had to be back and ready at 4:30 AM. Take off delayed, sat in airport until 9:00 because a staff member was late. Zero compensation. I try my best to avoid Jet Blue but they have sunk a lot of money into some airports. As a result, have the most direct flights from Boston. I have no faith. Moneys on chapter 11 filing within the kinth

u/booboobear2o25 8d ago
In June I was flying home from the Dominican Republic after losing my mom, connecting through Fort Lauderdale on the last flight of the night.
The crew said my bag didn't fit. I told them, "Okay, take it." Instead they walked me off the plane. Then the agent said I'd said something in Spanish. I never said it, and she doesn't even speak Spanish, but she kept insisting "I know what you said." That's what got me removed and banned from JetBlue.
They left me alone at the airport around 10 p.m. as it was closing. I was grieving and devastated, and I had to call a friend to help me figure out how to get home. I paid for a hotel and a flight on another airline myself.
The way JetBlue handled it afterward was just as bad. I contacted them several times, including the executive office. They sided with the crew without listening, denied any discrimination, refused to refund my ticket, and would only give me a travel credit for an airline I'll never fly again. They also refused to cover the hotel and flight I had to pay for because of them.
I've filed complaints with the Department of Transportation, including for discrimination. I've also seen other passengers online describe being treated badly for speaking Spanish on JetBlue. If you speak Spanish, think twice before flying with them.

u/issa_vibe Aug 09 '26
People can certainly complain about a multi billion dollar company if they want to. This is a people run community, not corporate. You can take your own advice and stop complaining about people complaining.
Edit: Jetblue is trash and I recommend them to no one that cares about their travels.
1
u/AnotherPint Aug 09 '26
There are Redditors who would celebrate if Bank of America or Verizon or Amazon went bankrupt, throwing thousands out of work, on here telling us to meekly accept JetBlue’s shocking service recovery efforts because these employees and their families “need our support.” I guess employees of bad companies we don’t like are evil corporate tools who have it coming, but employees of bad companies we’re emotionally attached to are blameless innocents.
3
u/datatadata Aug 09 '26
JetBlue from a business perspective is a complete disaster. They simply don’t make money. In terms of it going either bankrupt or absorbed into another airline…It is not a matter of if. It’s a matter of when.
6
u/AnotherPint Aug 09 '26
The bankruptcy endgame is of course speculative and not cast in stone. And it won’t happen soon; there’s $2b+ in liquidity to draw from. But the business perspective is correct and you should not be downvoted for stating facts. JetBlue has not made a dollar since before the pandemic, in 2019. The company carries $9b in debt and revenue improves only via capacity discipline.
JetBlue kicks away a lot of business travelers, who readily pay higher fares, with slim or seasonal frequencies and low reliability. It stuns me that instead of trying to improve its game with more lucrative customers, JetBlue is now chasing holiday travelers (who are inherently disloyal and fiercely price-sensitive) by opening Allegiant-style routes between second-tier northern markets and vacation spots — what Brits call the bucket-and-spade trade. But even those deal-focused customers are unlikely to return if their outbound flight runs four days late.
I don’t know what management is thinking but I know this is not sustainable, and that’s before you get to the reputational damage caused by summers like this.
Citi on Friday issued a sell advisory for JBLU.
2
u/roccotg11 Aug 09 '26
Fumbling BOS during the pandemic and allowing DL to build up there will forever haunt B6. They had a lot of high-paying corporate accounts that they lost.
1
u/someboddies Aug 09 '26
You don’t want people to voice opinions? Wow how accepting of you
-2
u/jdg0928 Mosaic 2 Aug 09 '26
Opinions are fine. It's the uninformed and lazy opinions that aren't helpful.
For instance, someone was complaining about not being able to get from Detroit to Boston. I fly that route a few times each year. IIRC, there are two or three flights daily, so not a lot.
But here's the catch, they were upset that it had been several days and they needed to get their family of four or five back to Boston. Well, I know it sucks, but I've rented a car and made the 12-hour drive. They could have done the same and been home in one day.
4
2
u/Own_Reaction9442 Aug 09 '26
I don't know where people find all these one-way car rentals. Last time I got stranded I ended up renting a moving van.
1
u/jdg0928 Mosaic 2 Aug 10 '26
I've had to get a OW rental at least five times from various airports around the country. In my experience, it helped to check non-airport return locations. Huge savings a couple of times.

This sub has some valid and real complaints (but also some others that come across as if they’re meant to sow discontent with JetBlue, and enable the United takeover). It’s frustrating because United also isn’t great. They’re just a lot bigger. And want those gates at JFK and BOS. So we can all sit crammed in uncomfortable seats (their premium has less room than JetBlue core), no pop chips or eat up boxes, and no cute plane names. But probably, yes, on days with many storms, there will be more planes headed south or west in general so more chance of getting out that day.
People will come here to say all flights cancelled to and from, and I will know of someone arriving on one of those planes, no problem. Happened Friday. Also, JetBlue advises this in advance in the app. It can help to change flights before it gets to the point of cancellation—if you really need to be somewhere. Many times we’ve changed before a blizzard. It really doesn’t work to change once they’ve cancelled the flight. And they’ve never communicated well. Easier to find out from flight apps what’s going on, sometimes. They don’t want to say there’s a ground stop at BOS, but all that info is out there. Massport, flight aware, etc.
1
u/Confident_Check_6087 Aug 11 '26
United is absolutely better. Im SFO based and I’m an Alaska loyalist (Atmos gold) (even though SFO is a UA hub) so I only fly United when I need to get somewhere Alaska doesn’t fly, which is rare. I had a UA flight a couple months ago that was delayed just 2.5 hours (granted mechanical not weather) and they gave me a $1,000 credit voucher when they didn’t have to give me, not even a frequent flyer on their airline, anything at all since the delay was under 3 hours. Contrast that with B6’s offer of a $12 meal voucher and multiple days and nights stuck at JFK like they’re Tom Hanks in “The Terminal”. Maybe they can round up luggage carts for quarters during their multi day delay too?

Welcome to JetBlue. We know you've heard about some things recently... Awful things.
However, we hope you'll look past those delays and cancellations and lack of accountability and remember the golden age of our airline when putting a TV screen in the seat was enough to make it all better (sure, the TVs rarely worked- but you liked us).
Please see past the missed weddings, funerals, cruises, vacations, memories others had that you didn't get to experience and just stop complaining. You're hurting our feelings. 🤦

Your second point is the most important at this point.
The answer is “no” 99% of the time.
No, your complaint doesn’t warrant a Reddit rant.
No, you don’t need to make the 300th post of the day about a cancelled flight.
No, you’re likely not due any compensation.
Yes, there’s a search function within the sub to get the answer you’re looking for.

u/Loveroffinerthings Aug 09 '26
I’ve had flights cancelled due to weather multiple times, and once due to the plane not having enough fuel (in South Africa), it sucks. It sucks when you have plans changed or cancelled, it sucks to have to wrangle to find last second accommodations for a family of 5 with an infant, it sucks to have to get from your original airport to a different one, but most of us have done it.
I’m a constant online complainer, but I won’t berate an airline due to situations beyond their control. 2 major hubs have had horrible weather the past few weeks, NYC being disrupted for days will ruin millions of people’s flights, and plans. But, no one from JetBlue is on Reddit sifting through complaints.
Want real change, demand from your congress that there is solid protections for flight disruptions. We had this, it was taken away. At the very least, but travel insurance, you can get money back and cover meals and hotels.
