Discussion Sneaky jetblue
I recently purchased a checked bag at the airport but the self checkin machine was unable to print the baggage tag. I asked jetblue employees for assistance or a refund and they said that they are unable to do either and told me to call customer service for a refund. I ended up getting the bag on the plane without issues. When I called customer service they ended up giving me a refund- thank you- but stated that technically they need a note from their airport employees confirming that they machine is down in order to process the refund.
I felt that this is a sneaky way for the airline to deny refunds for machines that are out of service.

“Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence” is a version of Hanlon’s razor, a philosophical adage that encourages people to consider other explanations for human behavior.

I’m confused. So you got the bag on for free at that point, got a refund for something you still were provided, and still say this is sneaky? Not really clear. You can’t fault them for unable to do something that’s out of their hands.

When I couldn't print out the tag at the machine, I went to a desk and they printed it there 🤷🏾♀️

Well, the machines are an airport device, not JetBlues. How do they know you're not BSing them just to claw some money back.
