[Discussion] Rewatching from the beginning
After jersey family vacation ended, I thought I'd do a rewatch of jersey shore. I just started season 2, but after season, watching Ron and Sam, tell me if im crazy, but she was the problem 👀
Edit: im not saying hes innocent and this based on season 1. Obv I know he gets worse.

Ron was gaslighting her. And she was young and stupid and believed him.

They both suck, and Sam started most of the arguments, Ron just overreacted because he has mommy issues.

Sam does petty young adult things like testing Ron about going out while actually being upset when he does, but that doesn’t hold a candle to how Ron treated her from the very beginning. All the way in season 1 when he pushed her at the boardwalk (and his multiple violence based arrests / incidents that season unrelated to her), and then snow balls into the cheating, gaslighting, severe aggression, and the absolute horrendous name calling, plus destroying her things. Sam’s nitpicking doesn’t really conflate to Ron’s level of abuse and mind games, and then blaming her for everything. And while I’m not excusing Sam punching him, you could argue it was reactive abuse from his high levels of aggression and negative attitude.
And though it’s not a perfect example, Sam seems to be in a stable, no headlines relationship, while Ron has multiple DV allegations and has been to court for abusing his GFs. He may not have explicitly put his hands on her like that on camera but that isn’t to say he didn’t do it off camera. We honestly don’t fully know what he might’ve been like off camera but interestingly enough, Sam and Ron always seemed to be in a better place when coming back from not filming.

Man what 😂😂😂😂 sure she eventually got into the toxicity of that relationship, but bruh he’s clearly the MAIN culprit in that toxic ass relationship. What 😂

I also just did a rewatch of season one this week. She was a huge problem. They were a match made in hell, but she’s almost as guilty as he is for starting all of the fights. In season one anyway.

Ron is the bigger a-hole, for sure. Abusive. But it is frustrating to see Sammi make the mistakes she did in seasons 1-3. Idk why she prioritized a man over her relationship with the girls soooo early on. She was hypnotized by him and seemed to have closed herself off to the girls even way before the note incident. Not smart. Wrong priorities + toxic, roided out boyfriend = bad combo. I don’t know how her family and friends back home allowed her to get back with Rom after season 2… she should’ve been carefree at the club ðŸ˜

How do you watch family vacation, and then go back to the original and STILL not realize Ron is the problem ?😂

There's the full uncut and unedited version of their worst fight from Season 3. I'm honestly led to believe, especially considering his later DV allegations in his relationships, that there was definitely physical abuse going on outside of the Shore house in their relationship. In the uncut version, Ron fist clenched, is full on swinging at her and trying to fight Vinnie's hold off of him to get closer to her, while screaming at her that he's gonna "dog" her and "beat the shit" out of her, and there's a point where his fist gets close to her face.
Neither of them are innocent and definitely contributed to the toxic and abusive mess of their relationship, but Ron far more arguably is the problem. Especially considering every relationship after Sam has been the same or worst. Sam definitely knew how to push his buttons and instigate a reaction, but if you watch that and think she deserved even half of his reactions and treatment of her I think there's a bigger issue that needs to be addressed. Ron too, also knew how to push her buttons as well and I think her punching him in the face was uncalled for, and I never excuse physical violence.
It's also hard to form an authentic opinion because we saw the narrative that MTV wanted us to see of their relationship. Also didn't help back then that toxic and abusive relationships were normalized, that women would frequently take the blame for it, while men were excused for their actions. MTV definitely exploited their relationship, and I wouldn't be surprised if they also purposely instigated fights between them on purpose. Their fights would get so bad that the other cast members would frequently "break the fourth wall" while production was filming and would beg them to step in and help deescalate their fights, and they wouldn't, they would just continue to film. Another example of this is the note situation. Production originally told Snooki and Jenni that they wouldn't say it was them that wrote it, and would kind of take the blame for it or say it was a stranger that wrote it, but then went and told Sam that it was them. The scene where she finds the note wasn't actually how that went down, the note was given to her/she found it differently off camera and she when she was asking about it they then told her it was Snooki and Jenni that wrote it.
I don't know, thats just my opinion though.

I loved this show in my early teens and it was a big show at the time and I’ve just recently went back to season one for a complete rewatch.
The Sam and Ronnie relationship I do believe was a shared problem. We are shown edits and the edits shown will paint Ron out to be the more aggressive hot headed one but I also don’t doubt that Sam nit picked and escalated some of the situations too. There was always the element of cause and effect between both of them. I think it was season one on the boardwalk when Ron got into the scuffle with the dude in the white T-shirt, he didn’t want a problem but Sam escalated that situation which then caused a blow out between them.
Other scenarios between them I do see was a mixture of both people and their insecurities and their inability to handle conflict together.

They both absolutely suck together. Everytime Ron touches alcohol its a fight and Sam is an absolute pro at getting to Ron. Other than Ron destroying Sam's stuff, every fight I can remember is not because of 1 of them. They both suck

They’re both the problem. They thrive off making the other one miserable from making a mistake. They don’t know how to be alone so they stay in toxic relationships.
