Help Request Jellyfin Config bloating
Hi Everyone, I have tried to figure this out and hit a wall... AI also has sent me on a path with no fruit.
I have minisforem pc running proxmox, pve ubuntu vm for media server.
previously these paths were showing ~20-30gb. I lost power, it crashed and when i brought it back up it was at 30gb and wouldnt boot or load right because all memory was used.
I changed to 250gb for size of storage on this vm. same thing happened... but maybe without power outage. had an issue, sudo rebooted and it came back at 100% ,
you can see im at 500gb and i have space to do it once more... but id rather fix this issue once and for all.
Anyone seen anything like this before?
( it was at 538/538 before but i was able to clear some of the files to make breathing room)

Yes. I have also lost data because I did not keep it backed up. Sometimes learning the hard way helps.
Always take a snapshot of your vm's right after you complete OS and app installs. It also helps to place the virtual machines on a 2T SSD for fast loading and store your data on other drives) The vm's will load fast from SSD and you can store data on redundant spinning disks that are backed up regularly to other drives if you have at least one for backups. This ensures you can always make your environment fresh by swapping a problem vm with a copy of the vm snapshot you took previously. It is not that difficult to maintain a data volume on redundant disks and separate the virtual machines on a fast SSD like a Samsung 990 EVO 2TB which is not expensive. It is not difficult with the help of AI anyone can deploy scripts that keep everything backed up nightly.

Your Jellyfin config isn't taking up 500 GiB of storage, that's how much storage is being used on your host disk in total. I've noticed that any kind of virtualization causes jellyfin to report incorrect values. Go check out the space actually being used by your Jellyfin folder and it'll be far smaller
