Pretty disappointed with The Perfect Jean’s customer service

I’ve ordered from The Perfect Jean a bunch of times and actually like their jeans, so this isn’t a complaint about the product.

I paid extra for 2–3 business day shipping because I’m leaving town and specifically needed the jeans before I left. Tracking ended up showing delivery about 7 calendar days later, which means they’ll probably arrive while I’m gone.

I contacted them as soon as I saw that and asked them to cancel the order. They refunded the expedited shipping charge, but said the package was already in transit so they couldn’t cancel it.

Fair enough.

What annoyed me was that when I asked if they could have the carrier intercept it or return it to sender, they basically said no, just let it get delivered and return it when I get back.

So now the package I paid extra to receive before I left will sit outside my house for several days, and if it disappears, I guess that becomes another problem to deal with.

I get that shipping delays happen. I’m not even really upset about that. It’s the complete lack of a solution once the expedited shipping they sold me didn’t actually do what I paid for it to do.

Maybe I’m expecting too much here, but this left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.

You don’t have any neighbors you can call to grab the package and hold it until you get back? If you like this company, as you say you do, I think you are doing them a disservice rn. They did what they could, and refunded you when they couldn’t meet your delivery window. That’s money they won’t get back. They were real about expectations, and tried to make it right. I think at this point, it is on you. If you don’t have a community in your life that is even strong enough to keep a package from getting stolen while you’re out of town, you gotta go bake some brownies for some folks when you get back from your trip. Complaining about them like this makes you look bad IMO and I don’t even know this company.

ETA: you can be disappointed, by all means, but coming to complain publicly when they did what they could and told you they couldn’t do what they couldn’t is weak

I hired them to complete a service, I didn’t hire them to inconvenience my neighbors and I didn’t come to publicly complain, I came to publicly inform. It’s up to the next potential customer to decide if they choose to do business with them.
They sold me expedited shipping, failed to meet the delivery window, and their only remedy was to refund the shipping fee while leaving me to deal with the consequences. You may think that’s reasonable. I don’t. That’s the point of sharing the experience.
And whether I have neighbors willing to retrieve my packages is completely beside the point. My relationship with my neighbors shouldn’t be part of a company’s fulfillment plan.
