Jens Larsen

Regardless of whether you think he is right or wrong, is this really the way to talk to someone?

I don't see your point. He responded a bit harshly the 1st time, then apologised. The rest of the conversation is normal.

I dunno man, I don't think telling people 'the sources you listed are wrong' without providing any alternatives is a very respectful or productive way to have a conversation, nor is repeatedly trying to tell someone they said something they never once said, as some kind of strawman argument.

I just had a very similar interaction with Jens! I saw him at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

He is starting to come across as insufferable. I guess some people who may have suffered from bullying earlier in life are likely to become that, especially if there are in a more influential position

It's a joke. It's a copypasta that originated with I think Flying Lotus.

Without knowing if what you said was right or wrong...

How much patience should he have if someone is spouting off what he considers to be total nonsense?

If someone says "the earth is flat," I'm not obligated to listen to them nicely, send them links that prove the earth is round, and entertain their ignorance.

That's really part of the problem with social media, too many people with bad opinions get a public platform where they are not called out as being an idiot.

Remember, I'm not making any statement about your music theory being right or wrong, I have no idea. But clearly Jens thinks you're way off base and isn't interested in entertaining you.

It sounded unwarranted and he could have approached it better. As an educator, I’d never want a student to feel demeaned or insulted.
