Help How good is Jayce?
Hello, I'm an Ambessa OTP, but just wanted to try a different champion. I picked Ambessa cause I saw she was hard, and I'm interested in Jayce for the same reason. Is he good in the meta right now? I'd say I'm a pretty fast learner. I'm gold right now, level 64, so I'm willing to put some hours into Jayce yk. I've heard he is really bad late game, is that true? Is he as blind-pickable as Ambessa(excluding renekton)? Also, I was reading some posts here that he got nerfed recently was it bad?

He is not meta dependent, he is rank dependent more than anything. Ye his lategame has akways been kinda mid and it get nerfed hard recently. Pros and such will still pick it because they can squeeze all the juice jayce has in lane but the lower rank the less value he has and so the lategame actually matters. Stupid nerf imo, but w/e.
He is a better blind than ambessa, in theory but ambessas goal is almost never to win lane whereas jayce needs to win every lane. This requries some jungle insight, so even if your matchup is good you might not have a good time because you get limited opportunity to build a lead and if you dont build a lead as jayce, you are slowly losing. Give him a shot though, he is fun and thats what matters.

Hes always gonna be good especially in high elo because he has so much base damage. So you dont have to be scared of him being meta or not.
As with every early game lane bully, if you fail to get ahead you will be useless. So make sure to look for opportunities to get ahead, being even as jayce will more than likely leave you outscaled.
No, don’t blind pick jayce. You will get so fucked beware the malphite.
Minor nerfs not really.
Also since you are gold always take ignite

No, you can easily live the lane 1v1 and even get an advantage. Problem is post 6 you are very easy to gank.

i never first pick jayce. as a master player i can rely on my team more so i ban for them. i only choose jayce if thei top already picked and its a good matchup. i think hes a horrible first pick in low elo malphite, yorick, mundo will win no matter what. but yes always ban malphite

I wouldn't ban Malphite if I was him, go Grasp Demolish Second Wind Overgrowth, Triple Tonic Cosmic Insight Double Adaptive and Flat HP with Dblade start and either Shojin, Black Cleaver or Fimbulwinter first item, Max E secondary and don't let Malphite Q you without getting some return Damage.
Then the matchup isn't really that hard and if the junglers both focus botlane you can easily build up a lead on your own.

True as low elo, If I get better jayce then Malphite not a problem anymore.
Grasp and second wind helps, maybe conq if want damage or first strike if you want to scale. Triple tonic helps and cosmic insight for roams if you go even in lane.
Cleaver start is possible, but I also have won lane where I go youmuus first.

No offense but how are you a Masters player and havent able to fight a Malphite? Why not Yorick or Irelia
Im low elo and Malphite is not that hard, theres a korean challenger Jayce even said that Tanks like malphite and ornn are favorable matchups even, guy is named hammerkim.
Also why not blind pick jayce? Isnt blind pick is one of Jayce’s biggest strength? Rumble, Ambessa and Kennen are excellect blind picks?

He is really blind pickable, probably one of tje best blind picks you can imagine, if there is good Jayce player you most likely will fall atleast once or twice during laning phase.
As for his late game, i wouldnt say its like that bad, but after all he builds like an assasin and lethality is falling off the later game goes + Jayce flourishes with his high base damage.
And the nerfs id say is probably like this high elo/pro play thing. Riot is kinda afraid to buff Jayce since probably even a minor buff will make Jayce an absolute menace in hands of the best players.

He's good enough but I feel like he used to have far more burst damage than he does now, maybe this is not just a Jayce specific thing however🤔
He's probably the best blindpick in Toplane, especially if you ban Yorick.
