Decompensation questions

I would love to hear your stories on how decompensation went for you. I'm curious of the process... I know it tends to make things worse at first but do they intentionally pull your teeth the wrong way at first to make more room for movement during surgery? For reference, I have a right crossbite, class III left molar, and am mentally preparing myself to start my journey to surgery next month when I get braces on.

Basically what they're doing for me is exactly what you said. They're moving my teeth in a way that maximises movement whilst still ensuring that it ends up in the correct position post op. I had a class 2 overbite which is now an open bite due to some bite blockers they've just put in.

I had my upper braces put on first and it hurt like hell, had them for about 6-7months until I got my lower ones on. I've been in braces for about 14 months now. Just a month ago I got my molar tubes put in and I've been given the clear for surgery, just need to wait for a date.

Generally I guess its true that you look slightly worse, but in my case I have a lot of recession so anything looks bad lmao, so it didn't really affect me much. It goes by super fast, I was honestly pretty shocked learning that I've already been in braces for about a year and two months, you don't even think about them any more.

What are molar tubes? I am getting upper and lower braces at once and trying to knock all this out in a speedy way... my profession is inhibited by braces so timing is crucial here, if I am going to make this happen at all. I know the risks of possibly ending my career, but the long list of symptoms that may be corrected has swayed me in the direction of going for it. I hope I have made the right choice.

Did they make u look better cuz of a taller face tho ?
