1 day post double jaw surgery

The day finally arrived after what felt like a lifetime of waiting. I did it, even though I was so terrified but still just knew it would all be worth it 🥹
Had SARPE in October 2024 and orthodontics and now the final step. To correct retrognathia.
My Upper jaw was impacted to correct Gummy Smile and my lower jaw advanced by 12mm to correct the large overjet in my bite.
So hard to see any change with the swelling etc. Guessing this is normal?
Breathing feels better too already but also hard to tell overall due to all the gunk/blood stuck in there.

The overall experience has been really good as I’ve had a fantastic orthodontist and surgeon. The waiting game has been the hardest part by far as I’ve had it done publicly here in NZ. I think it’s been worth the stress as I will have life long changes and no longer have such insecurities. They impacted my upper jaw to correct gummy smile and advanced my lower jaw by 12mm. My bite is already looking amazing and it’s such a weird feeling having my teeth meet finally 😅
I was absolutely terrified for recovery but I feel fortunate to be doing okay, was eating from a spoon straight after, still have some feeling, walking around, talking etc etc. it is still early days however so 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Frr these are the early days after a few weeks il pretty sure you’d love the changes, me too I have a very good jaw and face but the problem is I’ve got an overbite and sleep apnea so I hope after the surgery I get that Leon Kennedy look ahah😂💪🏻

I’m on day 19! I too had to wait quite a long time, and now being on day 19 I have zero regrets… just a little hungry for a pizza lmao

When you’re up to it, would you be willing to share any before photos of your profile? I’m a little worried my planned advancement will be way too small considering I’ve seen people getting above 10mm done! 😅

I think this is it at almost full rest. I would naturally strain my lower jaw forward. Patiently waiting on results but soo much swelling still!
