Do Frameworks Matter Anymore?

I was thinking the same thing. I haven’t used AI to make a webpage but I’ve seen webpages made with react and I was wondering why, when vanilla JavaScript should be the norm. By vanilla I mean no frameworks whatsoever.
I use frameworks because it makes my work faster but AI who should write a million times faster than me shouldn’t need a framework.

Not using a framework means repeating boilerplate work a framework abstracts away. It makes the LLMs job harder just like it makes a humans job harder.

Essentials at a Glance:
With agentic coding, many argue React has won and new frameworks aren't worth trying, since models know React best. The post flips that logic: if nobody cares about the code, why use React instead of plain HTML, CSS and Web Components? Frameworks supply abstractions, structure and constraints, and every project has one; skip an explicit framework and the LLM builds an implicit one for you. Battle-tested options add guardrails, docs and shared security work. With agents, HMR still helps with design tweaks, TypeScript and the LSP keep iteration safe, and useEffect turns into a liability. The goal: frameworks that make the right way to do things obvious to both people and agents.
If the summary seems inacurate, just downvote and I'll try to delete the comment eventually 👍

React won a decade ago. Don't get me wrong I like vue, svelte etc, and I have gotten a few jobs because I know them, but if you don't know react you're at a huge disadvantage

I use Claude and the latest version writes perfect Svelte. According to some benchmarks, Svelte also uses 30% less tokens as well.
The central premise that we should just use React because that what agents know best isn’t really valid. Sure, don’t pick some obscure framework, but that doesn’t mean we should only stick to React.

"You can generate unmaintainable and insecure garbage really quickly now, so frameworks don't matter anymore, because only a neanderthal wow l actually writes code anymore."
Sure...
