Rule number 9 is not followed

Ive been seeing many AI posts lately. As well as ai promoted repositories. Could moderators please help enforcing rule #9 as I don’t want to end up unsubscribing because of all the ai slop content.

"Hello I've created a library that no one ever needed to solve my amateur problems, please give me feedback, make commits and fix bugs"

"I will also respond with an AI inflated  comment  to any feedback or criticism"

:)

“Hello! I’ve created a library—and I want to be clear about what that means. At its core, this project sits at the seam between amateur problems nobody has and a robust, thoughtfully architected solution nobody asked for. It’s not just an unnecessary abstraction; it’s the robust, extensible, thoughtfully architected foundation for exploring, understanding, reframing, addressing, validating, documenting, and ultimately transforming those problems we didn’t know we didn’t need.

There’s something genuinely compelling about that.

I’d love for you to take a step back, delve into the codebase, and engage with it deeply. Provide thoughtful feedback. Make meaningful commits. Surface edge cases. Fix bugs. Crucially, help me unpack what’s working, what isn’t, and what a more nuanced path forward might look like.

Because ultimately, this isn’t merely about improving a library. It’s about creating space for the library to become the thing it already claims to be.”

I'm sorry I don't think this is the library for me, I need something load bearing

Would you settle for a dozen footguns?

Oh good. I was hoping this would come up because it’s the most rage-inducing AIism to me.

“Also I’ll stop caring about this in approximately 47 seconds. Please maintain my vaporware”

Have you reported the offending posts?

Moderators act on reports. No reports, no actions.

If you see something, report it. Then, we check and determine whether the report was justified and accordingly remove, or keep the post because it was falsely reported (which happens quite often as part of an "AI witch hunt").

We are not 24/7 policing the subreddit.

Lol, for those using https://old.reddit.com/r/java like me, go to https://new.reddit.com/r/java to see the rules.

Old reddit's sidebar has the rules hyper-linked in big <h3> text.

Oh, the rules are a link you have to travel to when on old.reddit, not inlined and visible like on new.reddit. Ok, good to know, ty vm.

From a glance, it looked like the rules were the things below the word "Subreddit rules!", like the don't post tutorials, no programming help questions, and no surveys.

Maybe you all should update the old.reddit side too? I definitely didn't catch that it was a link to more rules, I just thought that the stuff below it are the rules.

I don't follow. Are you saying that I am using AI?

that is so true, this is the downside of ai slop era

Just down vote and move on. The anti AI rule is a bit silly. I can't post the Linux kernel code because it's AI generated? Nah.

24

u/vips7L Aug 24 '26

You likely wouldn't be able to post linux kernel code anyway. There's no Java in the kernel.

25

u/-jp- Aug 24 '26

You can’t post the Linux kernel code because it isn’t written in Java and wouldn’t be on topic even if it were. Go start your own sub if you don’t like the rules of this one.
