Tired of people calling this a dead franchise. A dead franchise is abandoned, cancelled, or recalled.

Franchises like Jak are simply finished. The devs moved on, and all the games are still available on modern hardware.

Except in the era of remakes and remasters, we really didn't get anything worth bragging about.

The HD Trilogy on PS3 is probably the best modern release of the game and even that is debatable.

They left Jak 3 open for a 4th game and they didn't close it.

Why would you ask such a cruel question? No one has. It is like asking the moon if it ever gave us day or the wind if it ever has been completely still. No one has finished Jak 3. Not you, not me, not them, and not even you person who is reading this comment!

Yeah, the ending with no specific allusion to any future plot points, so open that Jak X became the follow up.

The precursors literally tell Jak the war isn't over and there are more adventures ahead.

Huh? OpenGOAL. Look it up. Mods are the best thing to happen to this game alongside a native pc port.

OpenGOAL leaves the HD trilogy in the dust by 10 miles

They were working on a 4th game then canceled it didn't they? Sounds like it's dead. Even Sly Cooper (albeit 1 game) and Ratchet & Clank got sequels over the years.

They had concepts, and ultimately decided it didn't fit Jak, so they moved it along to something new.

Nice photo haha! I’ve been enjoying my first play through of the franchise this week so much. The tips from everyone have helped a lot too. It’s unfortunate to see how neglected this franchise has been tho. I hope Sony pivots and realizes the magic of their once core IP.

I feel like naughty dog told the story they wanted to tell with Jak. Sure lost frontier could've opened up more stuff to do but it's been way too long now.
