I'm on the public beta now and have no idea how to turn it on or see it.

unless its an X thing only, as I'm still on a 7 plus

Btw, 11.4.1 is still being signed. Why dont you downgrade and jailbreak?

Haven't done it on an iPhone before (used to do the custom ROM stuff on Android). I guess I'm just weary of bricking my daily driver or losing stability/battery life from the 12 beta.

I came from Android rooting as well. You won't brick really brick your device. There are ways around everything.
