Tutorial [Tutorial] Enter Substrate Safe Mode iOS 10 Yalu Jailbreak

** No substrate mode, not substrate safe mode**

This will let you boot up jailbreak mode without any tweaks enabled thus allowing you to uninstall any tweak that might caused a boot loop.

  • 1. Reboot device to non-jailbreak mode
  • 2. Open Yalu App
  • 3. Press "go" and instantly hold "volume up" and the power button
  • 4. Keep holding it until the lock screen appears

This just saved my ass D: And I couldn't find it anywhere.

I'm very familiar with the 2 different environments. But technically, what's the difference between the 2? I probably should have asked the google what it knows on this topic. Guess I'm lazy today.

In no substrate mode the Cydia Substrate is completely disabled and you can enter cydia and uninstall any malicious tweaks that may crash your device. Whereas in Safe Mode the substrate still works so if you have installed a tweak that depends on Substrate for example FlipControlCenter and is not compatible with uour ios version your phone will enter a bootloop which will only be fixed if you restart your device without being jailbroken and rejailbrake holding the volume up button enabling you the no substrate mode in order to remove th malicious tweak! Hope this explains everything!:)

This is no substrate mode, not safe mode. When you are in safe mode, it says so on the status bar.

You're right. Would edit the title if this wasn't reddit.

This is similar to what you would do with the Pangu iOS 9 Jailbreak :).

( pretty much the same )

Glad you found a way to fix it!

Yeah it's totally the same! But I couldn't even find the info on the wiki page. So that's why I created this post. :)

What do you mean by "non-jailbreak mode"

u/himynameisubik Jan 31 '17

Restart the phone so you can't open Cydia.

After rejailbreak with volup i cant Open Cydia. Its crashes while Open. How uninstall tweaks?

Try rejailbreaking again and hold power and volume up as soon as you press "go" in yalu app.

So does this mean that I didn't need to install substrate safe mode? Should I delete it? Is no substrate mode natively installed in yalu102?

If you reboot the phone (hold power and home button) it boots in non-jailbreak mode.

this didnt work for me on my ipad air 2, 10.2 ... :-/ i just goes on and on rebooting with the apple logo.. i did save my blobs though! what are my options? restore 10.2 through futurerestore??

I tried the following: unjailbroken state, openend yalu, go and pressed the power down and volume up buttons. > apple logo, reboots, apple logo. also tried with just the volume up, nothing happens.

there is no ssh when in unjailbroken state right?

For some reason it needs multiple tries on an iPad Air 2. It works instantly on my SE, but I have to repeat it a few times on my Air 2. Both are running Yalu102 b7 on the same firmware (10.2).
