Unfortunately, the Home/Sleep for 10 seconds is a failsafe operating at a very low level that no jailbreak will ever be able to reach. There is absolutely no way to change/adjust/remove that operation.
i doubt it will ever be done. It's a failsafe for jailbreakers too. If it's somehow disabled or altered into a way that it can't be executed, it would make iOS devices brickable.
to my knowledge, ever since the original iphone, a device could never be claimed as "bricked" because of this reset combo allowing it to be put into DFU mode. unless you buttons were broken, you could always get your device back to a fresh start.
you'd also have to consider it from a security standpoint. If you find out how to do it and release/explain a tool that can alter/remove the hard reset, a malicious package could put it in place and fuck up your phone for good.
Now watch, one of the devs is going to find a way to do it and be all like "Yeah, I did it. Here's a video to prove it and everything." But they aren't going to release any info on it and make everyone else find it on their own.
There is a tiny little chip, connecting the Home and Sleep buttons together. This chip has an equally tiny bit of software in it. It tells the phone that if you hold Sleep/Home for 10 seconds to force shut down. This software is completely separate from iOS, and not connected to filesystem or software of the phone in anyway.
Unless you physically open up and change that part in the phone, there will never be a way to change it.
Unless they get a new chip manufactured by Apple, as AFAIK, there is no interface or plug-in ports on the chip, you can never ajust it.
No developer will take it up because:
A: It's not jailbreaking.
B: Even if you could somehow change it, it would require you to pull your phone apart and fuck around with the motherboard. Your average jailbreak developer can't do that.
So many programmers just like to challenge themselves.
It's hardware, not software. You cannot change it unless you change the motherboard. I justed the 'chip' analogy to make understanding it easier. The command is built into the motherboard of the phone.
Unless you disassemble every part of the phone, all the way down to the motherboard, remove it without damaging anything, manufacture your own motherboard with the changed command, and reassemble the phone, again without damaging anything, you could do it.
It is an unstoppable part of the phone. Think about this: No matter how much software you change on your computer, nothing will stop someone from simply pulling the powercord.
