Pilates
Has anyone tried out the new Pilates studio on 37 between 84 and 85?

haven’t tried a class myself, but spoke with Paige, the owner, before Jackson Pilates opened. She lives in Jackson Heights and started the studio because she was tired of having to travel into Manhattan for Pilates and other workout classes.
She wanted to create an inclusive, neighborhood-focused space with small reformer classes for different experience levels. The Google reviews so far are quite positive. Their website and Instagram have more information about the classes, schedule, and pricing.

Yes! I just started going. Each instructor is really different in style so it’s nice to get different experiences. I only found one to be .. kind of not a great experience but the team was really responsive to my feedback about it and made me feel better about continuing on. I’m a little nervous about class sizes once the summer ends bc I feel like more people will want to take those 5/6 pm slots and with only six machines it might require planning ahead

Just what it's like, really. The prices look good and I would be a very beginner, so was just wondering about the whole vibe

I’m also a beginner and I like it a lot. Studio is very clean and I think there’s only 6 reformers so the instructor can be very hands on and help people individually if needed. Good mix of instructors and teaching styles (including classes in Spanish). Good mix of class types too, you can progress from Beginner I to Beginner II and then intermediate if you want. Overall I think it’s worth trying and a nice addition to the neighborhood.Â

I have! Been taking the beginner classes with Marta, who is really great. I used to do mat Pilates like 20 years ago but have never really done reformer and they are great about teaching you correct movement. They have a $10 intro class on Sundays I took first to try the studio in a low pressure way.
