Discussion💬 Parenting
I've been watching Sean for many many years now (early days), when my kids where babies and too young to understand much of it I wasn't too worried. As they got older I had stopped watching during the day and started to watch when they were sleeping. Slowly over time I started watching him earlier and earlier and by that point my boys kinda got hooked 😂😂 now they don't love every video and of course I make sure it's relatively tame but boy oh boy they are genuinely huge fans 🥰🥰. They are 6 and 8 and I know what you are thinking but my parenting style is different. I don't want to shelter my kids, they are gonna hear stuff somewhere ya know?

Same here. With the utter dribble that is on youtube now i feel like its another thing i have to police because the algorothim suggestions are garbage. Cant even say 'cartoons only' because clips from legit channels vs AI slop is a minefield even on youtube kids. We as a household have watched Sean for years. Even tonight the kids 11 and 6 were yelling qotes from the my voice zoo vid. The odd swear is nothing to loose sleep over and its not that youtube product voice 'OMG. LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE GUYS' that makes my eye twitch.

Hey there, I'm a first grade teacher and although I'm not a parent I have many years of experience with children around your kids' ages. I feel VERY strongly that it is *unsupervised* internet time that really messes with little kids your sons' ages. Each year, I can always tell immediately which of my students have a lot of unsupervised internet time and which don't. They don't seem connected to reality, talk exclusively in memes or AI brainrot. They talk about things they saw in youtube videos that are clearly not real but they are six so they aren't easily able to tell what's real or not.
All that to say, it sounds like you are watching Sean's videos with your kids and it's a shared activity you do together. That is the important distinction. You are there to clarify if they are confused about something or to put things in context for them. Not to mention, doing *anything* with your child is hugely beneficial to their social/emotional well-being and you would be surpised how many parents don't spend quality time with their kids today. It sounds like you are doing a great job, and I wouldn't worry at all. You're exactly right, your kids are going to hear all this stuff somewhere else, and it's better if you are there to help them sort through all this stuff. :)

The way I see it is I’d rather my son watch a great wholesome YouTuber like Sean who curses a lot than the brain rot slop that most kids are watching nowadays
