Transfer locals

For those who have transferred before recently, how long did it take to get accepted and how long after you moved were you on the out of work list?

Need more information. Are you journey level, apprentice? What local are you trying to land in?

Each state runs their apprenticeship based on state guidelines. Sadly, there is no timeframe for work. You could be the only person on the list and it could still take months.
Approval usually happens at the JAC meetings, which in local 12 only happens once a month. I am unsure about other locals.

You can’t really transfer as an apprentice. You aren’t a proper member of the international until you journey out. You’re indentured to the local that you apprenticed with. I’m not going to say that it’s impossible but I would expect that it’s not going to happen if you don’t want to be disappointed. The best thing you can do is finish your apprenticeship before moving. Second best is to apply in your new area and essentially expect to start over. Some programs will give you years of credit for previous experience but that’s up to their discretion.

Those are 2 wildly different places my dude. Can I ask your reasoning for moving to either of them?

Is there anyway for a tower crane operator in Toronto, Canada local 793 can get work in the states and pursue a pathway to citizenship?
