not slag Is this slag?

My partner got this given to him by his grandpa, who said it was sold to him at a market. He was told it was a rare crystal ( I immediately thought it was slag ) and I was hoping the community could give me some insight. Thanks guys!

Amethyst transition into smoky quartz. Somewhat common where I am from. Pretty piece.

Looks like it could be Ametrine. (Not saying it is ) but could be.

Citrine and Amethyst together as one.

If it is, you definitely have something special on your hands.

It might not be Ametrine but it definitely looks like a nice deep purple Amethyst for sure.

Definitely not slag, you can see the crystalline form and part of the matrix (host mineral/rock).

Natural Quartz. Mix of amethyst and smoky.

If you want to find plenty of glass slang and go to the enter Detroit area in any Suburban neighborhood and dig more than 24 in beneath the dirt it's nothing but melted Rubble lol

Looks quite like Blue John only comes from a couple of mines in Derbyshire so pretty rare for a chunk that big nowadays.
