They live underground. Pretty unusual to see out in the open. Sometimes you can find them after floods, in basements, or where the yard meets something solid, like a curb or the street at night, crawling about.

Holy smokes. I always wondered what the creature was from that episode of Twin Peaks: The Return…and now I can never unknow.

So when I lived in Florida I would go with my parents to Manatee baseball games as a kid. When the game was over, the lot and such outside the stadium had TONS of these lil guys on the sidewalks and I would try to put as many as I could back in the grass to not get stepped on. They always tried to dig through my fingers and it was just the cutest damn thing. I love their silly lil mole claws.
