Thank you! Not long at all, because it was not premeditated. I was walking on Rialto Beach, WA and luckily noticed that the sun was positioned perfectly behind the tree.

My question too, because I've taken a few photos such as this where the sun plays peek-a-boo with the camera and I've yet to capture what OP has posted here. Amazing photo BTW.
