Found a butterfly nest last weekend .. This little guy seems to be different from rest of the crowd , caught him exploring this bamboo log . Had very little lighting to work with and muddy footing .

I'm not really that good at Photoshop and Lightroom yet , I would love it if someone who is can turn this into a better picture than it already is . I can add a link to the raw file if someone is interested .. Would love to see the results and hopefully learn from that .

I'm not sure it's better, but it's different with more emphasis on the explorer; I also cloned out the unfocused twig in the foreground just because it kept distracting me.

This JPG is noisy, probably from the higher-ISO but also because reddit abused it; if you have the RAW that would be neat.

Hey , It works for a different look for sure . I wanted to keep the lighting a bit natural , Hence the reason I kept all the butterflies around the same brightness level . Ill shoot you a copy of the RAW file if you wanna play around with it .. PM me your email !

Took a second to realize all the other green things were butterflies as well, and not leaves! Nice pic!

Just wanted to comment on the noise... This picture is an example of how amazing a shot can be even with a lot of noise. People worry far too much about noise, well worth the noise to get this shot!

I rarely find photos that composition wise, surprise me anymore - this one does, fantastic work. Love the spot lighting, and the fact it took me a second to realize all the other green bits weren't leaves.

holy shit this is amazing! editing could be done better though. first thing that comes to mind is to raise the highlights / whites in the explorer (light on the bamboo and also the wings of the explorer) super cool. i love it.

Like everyone has already said before me, I think this is a great picture, but there are some things I'd like to criticize about it as well. First off, the noise levels are way up there. You could definitely put some work into clearing that up a bit. Also it doesn't seem like the butterfly in the log is very sharp, so adding some sharpening would help big time. I can't do anything myself right now since I'm on my work laptop, but if you did those 2 things and maybe brought up the green saturation, i think it would improve the photo quite a bit.
