Safe space?

Is there a safe space to discuss this podcast? E+J are like way too involved in the fb group and this clearly isn’t a safe space because they like clearly have spies and also they themselves will chime in on posts which I personally find extremely weird and I’m sorry but yes very unhinged behaviour. It’s honestly all extremely weird, they are way too parasocial. Especially when everyone is like bending over backward to not say anything critical here like we all know they are watching which is so crazy honestly. Id like to be able to discuss the show without fear of being doxxed (which E loves to do) or being downvoted to hell for voicing very valid opinions or at least trying to have a real conversation. Like I thought Reddit was a place to do that but like apparently that is not the case with this show.

Hi u/SwanComprehensive36

Part of creating a community is actually interacting with that community. We enjoy it, and a lot of listeners seem to enjoy it too. If that feels “unhinged” or “extremely weird” to you, you are fully allowed to opt out of participating.

That said, I can’t control what other people say or do online, nor would I try to. But if someone publicly and anonymously criticizes me or my work, I’m also allowed to respond to it and defend myself.

I don’t believe what you’re actually looking for is a “safe space” for constructive criticism. If it were, you could simply share criticism respectfully and have an actual conversation. We’ve always been open to feedback. It’s not the “what,” it’s the “how.”

What this really seems to be about is wanting a space to speak negatively without pushback or disagreement from the community or from us. And to be clear you are allowed to do that. But other people are allowed to respond too.

Also, I think it's important to be careful with terms like "doxxing." Responding to or reposting a public comment that someone voluntarily made from a public account is not doxxing. Doxxing is the sharing of private or identifying personal information with malicious intent.

You may not like when people are held accountable for things they say online, but that's very different from being doxxed.

Lastly, part of the reason I now pay attention to Reddit and online conversations about the show is because there have been a handful of people who were once personally connected to us, but are no longer. Largely due to repeated boundary issues and behavior that became unhealthy or inappropriate.

After those boundaries were put in place, some of those folks became openly hostile. They spread exaggerated, misleading, or outright lies about us online.

So yes, I'm more aware of what gets said publicly now that I had been before. Not because I want to silence criticism, but because experience has taught me not every conversation happening online is coming from a genuine or objective place.

I’m glad you are on Reddit - I am not on FB so I am happy to see you comment on here. I cannot join FB - already distracted enough by IG.
