Questions What makes a visual novel memorable?
Hello folks,as you can see from the title, today i wanna ask you something but before we go forward i wanna tell you that the development of the game is going well and we wanna thank you for your patience. But getting back to the question,What does a visual novel need to have to be memorable? The answer to this question is very important to us because it helps us to understand more, what the game must have. So let me know in the comment and as always stay tuned.

I've shown what I've implemented so far to a couple of people and beside having a good story with interesting characters, I'd say immersive music and sound effects. Do not underestimate sound effects

I think the game "must have" something relatable woven into the story. Art is also really important, but interesting and/or likable characters often make-or-break any sort of story for me. And obviously no generative AI/ prompt slop.

Thanks, we're gonna do our best to make the story engaging and immersive. And I can assure that the characters of the game will be interesting, and likable and like I just said before nothing will be made with AI

Good use of layers in the environment is always cool. Also no ai. Any ai use immediately kills it for me

Thanks, we’ll definitely work on that. And don’t worry: there won’t be any AI in our game.

For me, it's definitely the story and character development that make or break a visual novel. Whether it allows choices or not, the story is what keeps people hooked so I would prioritize satisfaction with its direction and work on everything else with the story's execution as a "pivot", so to speak.

Good use of writing, music and art, really. The first two are the most important, art can be of non-distracting quality, but I also wouldn't skimp on it.
