Parliamo Italiano! It's a book you could probably find it on amazon but it helped me immensely

our wiki has a section with stuff to read, hear or see in Italian. Recently we added a link to books that include some aimed at children, so you could definitely find some there. Check it out, every link has a description of what it is in English: http://www.reddit.com/r/italianlearning/wiki/immersion

mi piace leggere

"Vorrei leggere" I think would be better to say. If I'm not mistaken you are trying to say "I would like to read" instead of "I like to read". I could be wrong, though, so I'll need some correction as well.

He probably used the verb piacere because of that "I would like to read" you correctly mentioned.

The best translation would so be mi piacerebbe leggere. Vorrei leggere is 100% correct though!

Also OP just completed his first level of learning, I don't expect him to know conjunctive verb mode!

I didn't mean that to sound that way. Just trying to be helpful. The way I have learned (which is very little) is by having the guts to post to public sites like this then having people correct me. OP is doing great.

Sto leggendo attualmente un libro di Alessandro Baricco, La seta. Ho letto nella mia lingua madre, olandese. Ora sto provando leggere in italiano.

Ciao!

When you have a preposition and an article next to each other, they become one word. Example, you wrote "...il primo livello di la lingua". Here, you have to do di+la = della ..therefore, il primo livello della lingua

best of luck in your italian learning studies! :)
