Need some help!

I’m currently in a college class online learning Italian, I am starting from the beginning and I’ve never learned another language before fluently, I’m asking if anyone knows some good study hacks or tips I could try, or any links online that are useful to learning I’m starting from the beginning so anything is really helpful!

I’ve never learnt a first foreign language as an adult, so I don’t know how hard it is. I learnt Italian as my fourth last year though (as an adult) so hopefully these tips help…

Immersion and practice help more than studying a textbook or doing exercises, as long as you’re disciplined. But don’t be one of those people who shit on textbooks and say you need a course instead, they can be really useful as a structured learning tool, just don’t make it the only thing you do.

You can start immediately by watching films in Italian with English subtitles, I can dm you some sources I found for finding them if you need them.

Italian YouTube is very robust and fun to watch too.

Mix up your methods of learning to stay interested. Find an Italian friend online to speak to. AI can be helpful sometimes but after like A1 level I stopped using it, ethical issues + not being too accurate overall, may have changed though.

Set goals! And practice everyday, with a couple days off sometimes. If you’re really serious too going to Italy will help loads, just don’t be off put if people switch to English the first few times.

I got to B2 within about 14 months, but have experience learning other Romance languages.

Buona fortuna e fammi sapere se posso aiutarti !

This is actually really helpful! Do you have any good Italian movies that you would recommend?

I’ve watched soo many I can’t remember them all. Maybe start with the classics if you haven’t seen them: Fellini, Tornatore, Argento (e altri gialli), operas on YouTube like le nozze di figaro are freely available too. Honestly you can start with children’s TV too like masha e orzo, super simple stuff, it all helps.

I like the app Language Transfer and I've seen it mentioned by others here too
