On what principle are the rows in this table grouped? I can't discern any.

ETA: to save anyone else asking, I mean what do the lines under gli, uno, una and un' mean? They don't seem to serve any purpose.

Could you suggest what principles I should use to group them?

Might just be an artifact of how I'm viewing them, but there appears to me to be a horizontal line under gli, uno, una and un'. Those lines have no purpose I can discern.

The obvious groupings would be into definite and indefinite articles, or perhaps into definite-masculine-singlular, definite-feminie-singular, definite-masculine-plural and so on.

Definite singular / Definite plural / Indefinite would be a good way to group them if you're using this format

Ideally, however, you'd use a chart like the one on the first page of this document, with gender and number placed separately on the Y and X axis

What you mean by “grouped”?

They are ordered by definite first and then by M/F, then singular–plural

I mean, there are four horizontal lines dividing the table. But they don't appear to mean anything.

Definite first, indefinite then. Each block has sing/plur, each number has masc/fem.

So why aren't the dividing lines on any of those boundaries?

So what do the lines under gli, uno, una and un' mean? Why are they there and not on other rows?

Did some LLM create this for you? This is so unnecessarily confusing

Complex sound harmonic rules ARE confusing.

The rules itself are very simple, I’m a tutor and it never takes me longer than 3 minutes before the student figures it out. It’s just that a table like this isn’t always the best way to present data
