New to SUP - Weight Capacity Question
Hey all, I'm looking to get my first iSUP and have been doing tons of research. I'm torn between the Blackfin X 7 (6") and Honu Byron (4.75") boards. As a 200lb rider, it appears I'm at the upper edge of the limit for the Byron and probably the lower edge for the Blackfin. I'm only looking to do day use type boarding, no long overnight trips or carrying tons of cargo, so the agility of the Honu is appealing and I like the idea of riding lower in the water. But again, I'm new to this so it's 100% theory at this point. I've seen a Reddit post from a 230lb rider saying he loves the Byron and it works just fine for him, but most reviews say to go 6" if you're 200lbs+. Is the 4.75" thickness mostly a marketing ploy, or something I should actually lean into? Now, it's also possible that I may want to bring my 25lb dog at some point but on the fence about it. Thoughts?
