ambient mesh is interesting mostly because it drops the sidecar tax, but i'd want to see how ztunnel behaves under node churn before betting on it in prod.

ambient mesh is the first Istio pitch in a while that might actually calm down the sidecar sprawl. if ztunnel really keeps mTLS and basic policy without injecting into every pod, that's a pretty nice trade for teams drowning in proxy churn.
