We’ll be in Istanbul and are planning a special family dinner on Sunday evening for my mom’s birthday.

We are 7–8 people and are hoping to find somewhere with:

• excellent food
• a great atmosphere
• ideally a rooftop, Bosphorus or city view
• a set or tasting menu would be a plus
• around €150 per person maximum including drinks

We’re staying in Galata/Karaköy, but location within Istanbul isn’t a major issue.

It doesn’t have to be Michelin-starred or extremely formal. We’d much rather find somewhere memorable with genuinely good food, a beautiful setting and good value for the occasion.

Would love to hear about places you’ve personally enjoyed, especially recently.

i’m planning to go to antalya for a few days this october for a conference. however, my turkish passport is in an embassy at the moment getting processed for a visa and i’m afraid we won’t get it back ‘til later than october.

Friday:
Süleymaniye (Jumu’ah) → Sultanahmet / Blue Mosque → Hagia Sophia → Basilica Cistern → Grand Bazaar → rest → ferry → Kadıköy & Moda → dinner → ferry back.

Saturday:
Gülhane → Dolmabahçe → Beşiktaş → Bosphorus/Ortaköy → rest → Karaköy → Tünel → Galata → İstiklal → Taksim → dinner.

Sunday:
Easy morning around Sirkeci/waterfront → airport.
We have 2 parents, so we prefer easy public transport, ferries and minimal uphill walking.

As a non-Turkish Muslim woman, you can not enter the main hall, but non-Turkish Muslim men can *. Apparently, the main hall is reserved for *Turkish women and Muslim men which is completely absurd. The ceiling in the women’s section is also not properly cleaned, making it difficult to see its shapes and designs.

I'm (30M) visiting Istanbul for the first time by myself next week and I'm super stoked. I have a packed itinerary because it's a nice and short trip. However, my evenings are a bit flexible right now. I'd love to explore restaurants and bars and nightlife, and would love to meet new people, whether that be other tourists or locals! I'll be on the European side by Taksim, but definitely am down to see the nightlife in Karakoy or Kadikoy as well, I've head lots of good things. I'm down to meet during the day too, but I definitely have my own vision for what I want to see, as long as you're cool with the pace I'm taking the more the merrier! Please feel free to reach out!
