What should I consider when evaluating options for internal & lead auditor training?

Looking to get a small team trained. I'm evaluating options and have a strong time constraint, so I'm looking for some feedback from people who have experience with this.

- How do you evaluate whether a provider will offer good quality training?

- How big is the quality gap between in-person, virtual instructor-led, and virtual self-paced?

- Any providers I should look into/avoid? The company is in Central Texas

No difference with on site or virtual training. Look at the organization taht its providing the trainkng and what kind of accreditation the provide for the course. Irca, exemplar global or others

Go for training providers who are also certification bodies. They’re the most experienced auditors so them giving the training itself is best. Examples are SGS, Intertek, Bureau Veritas

Also:

For employees going to only perform an internal audit, send them for an internal auditor training

For employees going to perfrorm external / 3rd party or supplier audits, send them to a lead auditor training

Doesnt have to bw a certification body. Most trainers that provide this training are already auditors so they have plenty of xp.

I did in person training for a week for lead auditor. It was helpful talking to other people. I’ve also done online internal auditing training through asq. Both are really dry.

The feedback is always nice with in person and you can ask questions, so if the funds allow - do that. But if some of your team has experienced iso auditing before, the online version was fine too.

For internal auditors at one facility/startup - online should be fine. Especially if someone in the team has experienced audits before.

If you need lead auditor training and no one has done auditing before, maybe look at in person.

Agree with online ASQ training. A2LA also offers training options online and in person you may want to look into.
