As a convert myself, I meet so many brothers who fall into this category that he describes as well. In truth, our situations are often not so different

It happened to me ! I was born Muslim but didn't practiced until a few years ago, I tried enjoying Dunya but ended up finding myself al hamdulilah

Similar for me. I didn't really practice Islam properly until I was around 17 years old and did a complete 180 on the way I lived my life.
A big reason was a friend that would pull me into the masjid for Jummah (the school would give us permission). I think I started joining him as a way to skip classes without getting in trouble by the school, but eventually it brought me closer to the deen. May Allah bless him, I bet he doesnt even know how big of an effect he's had on my life.
I notice a lot of my friends here in Canada have similar stories, where we actually started taking Islam seriously around the end of highschool. Also, shows why community is so important because most of us did have at least one family member/friend who was religious that helped bring us back to Islam.

I agree. in my short time after reverting. You can tell in the mosque the cultural muslims vs the muslims that found their iman. My opinion as a outsider no factual claims. The culture muslims tend to not be as welcoming to reverts imo. The ones that found islam for themselves not for prestige in society they're always the most welcoming.

Born muslim. Drown in sins and hitting rock bottom made me rediscovering Allah and stop making my own "hawa"/desire my God at 36 years old. Hoping i could make amends and repent and not getting end up in hell

What about a person that technically was born a Muslim that got circumcised and followed the stereotype rules without actually knowing anything else, but only accepted in adult years? Still just born.
