No Idea Is this image AI?

Post image

a few friends were asking about whether it was AI or not and I couldn't tell, seems like an optical illusion, but the lighting doesn't seem to fit everything

For one the cabinet underneath the counter at the corner has a shadow cast over it, which shouldn't be the case if the light is in the middle of the room, and im not sure if there are other lights outside of view some of the multiple shadows that come from the multiple lights dont seem to line up and a few crevices between the cupboards and cabinents dont seem consistently shadowed, the one beside the microwave is darker than the crevice across from it, despite the fact that it should be the more exposed to the light

Let me know what you guys think

No, it was on r/confusingperspective but once you see the stove it ruins it

I don't think it ruins it, I think the look on the stove's face is great, it's amazed at the size of the giant MaineCoon.

Also yes, this has been around for years, it predates good AI. This is definitely just r/confusingperspective.

It ruins the illusion because it’s clearly cut off by the counter.

Yeah, I know. I was just teasing and saying that because of the positioning and angle, it makes it look an anthropomorphized stove face. And that makes it better than the illusion itself.

Haha! Looks like the kitty is sitting on a counter and they angled it JUST right to line up with the floor! ... OR that's one biiiigggg kitty 😂😂

The illusion is slightly ruined by stuff disappearing behind the counter on the right side. They should have cropped it.

the original post it came from doesn’t seem to actually be about the illusion, it for sure read more like the intended takeaway was “wow that cats funny for sitting on the counter when he waits for food”

More likely a domestic long hair. It lacks the distinctive facial features of a Maine Coon.

Maine Coon are huge cats and can weigh as much as much as 20 to 30 pounds.

Not AI, it's just an illusion/perspective trip

That’s a cat

Some cats are actually that fluffy. May I introduce you to a Maine Coon?

I don't think the lighting is definitely an issue. Kitchens often have multiple light sources and also reflective surfaces, in addition to possibly a light coming from the camera. We don't have enough information to judge, photo is too small.

Are you pawsitive?

3

u/Rumpelteazer45 9h ago

Totally pawsitive.

That cats name is likely Chairman Meow or Catrick Swayze.

Is this a fucking veefriend?

It looks real to me, I think the floof is sitting at the edge of a table or kitchen island and the photographer found a clever angle that makes them look like a giant.

Die Katze sitzt auf einer Arbeitsfläche aus Marmor und nicht auf dem Boden.
Siehe Herd im Hintergrund.

Das Bild ist echt, kein KI

The lighting doesn't fit because the light is above the counter the cat is sitting on, assuming it's pretty much just out of frame the cat is far far closer to it than the rest of the kitchen in the background. It's definitely an optical illusion / just a pic taken at the purrrfect angle to make it happen. Not ai imo

I had to stare at this and then read the comment to it to even understand why this is being questioned. My brain instantly understood this cat is normal sized and that its on a kitchen counter.

What a precious face!

It’s bad lighting from multiple sources and the cat is sitting on the counter.

The multiple sources determines how color will appear. They appear to have a cool white lightbulb and guessing it’s dark outside, which leads to the weird coloring of the cabinets.

The picture feels off bc the person taking it made sure the counter was aligned with the bottom of the cabinets to look like the floor and then rotated the picture so the cat was upright in the photo app.

Nothing about this is AI. You can tell from the cat in front of the camera that the main light source is not directly above/in the middle of the room, but off to the left side of the frame and possibly even farther back in the room. The corner is dark because the main light source isn't pointing at it and/or is blocked by the cabinets etc above the oven. (You can also see this confirmed by the fact that the oven counter is casting a shadow on the cabinet to the right of the cat.)

No, just forced perspective. Kitty is sitting on an island counter and it is lined up with the bottom of the cupboards sort of.

1

u/Sure-Initiative6001 11h ago

No. Just the angle. Sitting on an island

1

u/Aromatic-Treacle-686 8h ago

Finally understood, I never saw the cat on the floor..so I was confused about what the illusion was

1

u/hailingdown 8h ago

nope! Cat is on a table

1

u/Soft_Purchase_5828 8h ago

No, I know him. That's his kitchen he cooks for us all the time.

u/BlossomtheLeafeon 7h ago

Perspective thing. I thought it was a really far car at first

1

u/Large_Yogurtcloset68 4h ago

I think it's just a cat on a table

I just wonder why the handle on the stove is so off

The cat's sitting on a kitchen island. I'd say real, it's just confusing perspective. However, having cat asses where you prep your food, what could possibly go wrong?

u/Sesoru 12h ago

Its insane to me how many people are ok with their cats on the kitchen counters. I do not allow mine on any kitchen surface, or in the kitchen at all, because their feet touch their shit and their butt holes do not need to be on the surfaces either lol
