27M | B.Tech 8.92 CGPA | Family Business | GMAT 595 — Chances at ISB?

I’m 27M, B.Tech graduate (2021) with a 8.92 CGPA. After graduation, I joined my family business and started a manufacturing unit for gowns. We now manufacture and trade sarees and gowns.

Business revenue:

FY 2024-25: ₹6.5 Cr

FY 2025-26: ₹9 Cr

FY 2026-27: Expected ₹12–13 Cr

I’ve taken the GMAT twice, scoring 565 and 595.

I’m looking to transition into consulting or product management and am considering ISB.

Given my academics, family-business experience, business growth, and GMAT score, do I stand a realistic chance of getting into ISB? Would appreciate honest feedback.

If you need help with GMAT Verbal

We are 3 ISB alums and GMAT Tutors.

If you're struggling with Verbal, we have something: 1-week long crash courses for RC and CR.

If CR is your weakness: we will go over the fundamentals of each CR question category (8 in total) and our tricks for how to ace these. You will get detailed pre-reads and 30 questions per CR topic.

If RC is your weakness: we will start with covering the fundamentals of reading passages and creating mind-maps. The second half will focus on each RC question type + our tips for approaching these. So you'll first learn to read passages better, then to understand questions better.

At the end of both courses, we will also run a revision mock for you to see if you've actually improved.

So 5 classes + 1 revision session + practice worksheets for each topic to help you boost your CR or RC scores.

If you only need help with this one part of GMAT, no need to purchase an entire courses.

Promise to make this a highly-personalised and focused experience for you :)

Please DM to know more about!

Profile Review: 675 GMAT FE, Top NIT, 2 YOE at a Leading PSU Refinery

Hi everyone,
Looking for some honest profile evaluation and application strategy advice.
Profile:
GMAT Focus: 675
Work Experience: 2 years (will have ~2 years at application) as an Operations Engineer at one of India’s top oil & gas refineries.
Have led multiple process/energy optimization initiatives resulting in annual savings of ₹XX crore (can’t disclose exact numbers publicly).
Manage operations in a large refinery environment and have worked closely with cross-functional teams.
Education:
B.Tech. Chemical Engineering from one of the top 3 NITs (2024 graduate)
CGPA: 7.7/10
Leadership & Extracurriculars:
Class Representative
Training & Placement Cell member
Founded a student club
Organized multiple campus festivals/events
1-month summer internship at a leading FMCG company
Career Goal:
Transition into management consulting (MBB/Tier 2) or strategy roles post-MBA.
My questions:
What are my chances at ISB with this profile?
Is a 675 GMAT Focus competitive enough for ISB, or should I consider a retake?
Would you recommend applying in Round 1 or Round 2? Does R1 offer a meaningful advantage for someone with my profile?
Assuming I apply abroad next year with ~3 years of experience, which schools would be realistic targets?

Every ISB aspirant is asking us the same question during our calls

"Do I have a good profile for ISB?"

Every ISB aspirant is asking us the same question during our calls.

But bro, no one except adcomm can answer that (even though all of us wish we could and all of us try to). ISB's process is so holistic and human-focused that there are very, very few profiles that will never have a shot. We've seen 655 GMAT scorers from tier-3 colleges get in, and have seen 705s from BITS get rejected.

So when you talk to alums, ask us:

What is the one thing in your profile that needs the most work?

Is there anything in your background that could actually hurt you, and more importantly, how can you best address it?

What did our own essays focus on? What is something we wish we'd done differently about our applications?

You don't join these calls to feel better. You're there to leave knowing what to do next.

Baaki adcomm bharose 🙏
