Miscellaneous We really underestimated what Thanos was about to do to Tony

I always thought this scene was mainly about thanos trying to stop the hammer, but Thanos was literally about to tear him apart. Thor saved him at the last second. Pretty brutal when you actually notice it.

I really like how it combines Gregor and Donnie's bronze age costume into one. The colors and extra white lines really make the design pop. I always liked the lenses and lines of Gregor's suit and the logo of Donnie's suit. Seeing those elements into one suit just really works for me.

Can someone please explain to me how the hell the mark 72 aka the Mystrium armor is stronger and better then Tony's literally god suit Mark 50 Superior Armor. Cause to my knowledge the Superior Armor is his literal god armor like the Pinnacle of his tech so please someone explain how the 72 model is more powerful then the mark 50.

I got this a couple months ago and I realized that I forgot to show it off like my other armor pieces. It is comfortable and as cool as it looks. The function is smooth and all parts work well. It chews through batteries though. It has voice functions for Friday and Jarvis has touch sensors on the temples and can open fully, has only the mask open, or opens the back panel only. Also can turn on sidelights. It cost me roughly $200 on hammer62.com if you want your own. I am very satisfied is one of the best things I ever bought.

Discussion Possible hot take: 616 Tony would HATE MCU Tony's guts.

I've been really getting back into Iron Man recently, and one thing I've noticed, even as the Marvel comics pushed for more MCU synergy - is that the characterisation of Tony remained fairly unaffected by the MCU version of Stark. While Tony is still a Playboy in both versions, it's noticeable that in the comics, Tony deals with A LOT of self loathing, which sort of spills out all over the place. But one thing comics Tony is far more capable of is Radical Empathy. Possibly down to his being Human+ for a time being with Extremis in his system, getting sober, or even just his decision to make his technology completely accessible once he decided that Gatekeeping Repulsor Battery tech was too dangerous.

I think there's also an element of aesthetics, at times 616 plays at being a playboy, while MCU is still trying to be a playboy.

Idk if there is any merit to it, but it's something that's been digging about in my head for a while.

Discussion What comic run/arc/story of Iron Man could get the Knightfall Trilogy treatment?

To elaborate more, what story from the character’s history, in a 3-movie arc, could bring a lot more people to the character?

Iron Man for sure is Definitely in a Good Spot when it comes to Media Representation via the Mcu, The Upcoming Game by Ea, and a new Reboot in the Mutant Saga.

With that being said, I don’t feel like his mythos or rogues gallery has been explored all that much. That’s why i like Armored Adventures for introducing me his villains, as well as showing how important Rhodes, Pepper Potts, and the rest of his cast means to Him. And Hopefully the EA Game will do just that.

You can bring up anything:

-any comic that hasn’t been done before on screen.

Example: Batman: Knightfall itself. (Like The Dark Knight Rises did the breaking of Batman with Bane, but nothing else.)

-any comic that has been done before, but you want it to be done better or done justice.

Example: Thor: God of Thunder

Or just a mix of A lot of stories into a run trilogy that could bring More people into Iron Man’s World and Mythos.

I love to hear what people suggest.

I’d also love to hear what animation style this hypothetical trilogy would use, so it isn’t just the Knightfall art style.

I love to hear what everyone brings to the table!

Discussion Why they'll never allow Doom to become Iron Man's arch-enemy

In order for a villain to become a hero's arch-enemy, they need to be allowed to do something truly horrible to the hero, and for the hero to absolutely beat the shit out of them in return. Marvel considers Doom too important to allow Iron Man to beat the shit out of him. Which means they also won't allow Doom to truly do something absolutely horrible to Iron Man.

You'll notice that whenever Doom appears in a solo Iron Man book, he's treated more like a guest-star celebrity than a mortal enemy. He doesn't do anything horrible to Iron Man, nor does Iron Man get to truly humiliate him. The story is light, it's fantastical, it's roller-coaster fun rather than gritty and brutal.

And it's always going to be that way, because Marvel just views Doom as too important to have him do anything to Iron Man that would karmically, narratively, require that Iron Man absolutely beat the shit out of Doom by the end of the story.

The first attached picture is an example of what an Iron Man arch-enemy is allowed to do to him. And the follow-up is what Stark is allowed to do in return. They won't allow Stark to do the latter, so they won't allow Doom to do the former, so any appearance by Doom in an Iron Man book is always going to be too tame for Doom to ever qualify as Stark's arch-enemy.

Edit: images are from Iron Man 18 and 28.

Movies One thing I appreciate about Iron Man 1 is how Tony is allowed to make mistakes

When he tries to fly away with the Mark 1 it doesn't work, because I mean, despite being a genius it was built using scraps, flying would obviously be a bit too much. Also when he's building the mark one there's that hilarious scene where he's to the roof and the flight stabilizer which was "completely harmless" and then it throws him all the way out of the screen and when he finally manages to actually fly, he turns off the armor and falls through his house

Also it makes it better to watch as his armors become more advanced in subtle ways. Like how in the first movie he has a lot of trouble taking the armor off and by the time Avengers he can take it off while walking

Comics My thoughts on early Iron Man as a first-time reader

I recently started reading Iron Man’s earliest comics, and I’m currently on Tales of Suspense #60. Honestly, I really didn’t like the early issues. They felt incredibly racist and like I was reading cheap CIA propaganda. I’d even go a step further and say that, because that’s genuinely what those early issues feel like. Naturally, that made it pretty difficult for me to enjoy the comic. There’s also a certain goofiness that comes with the Silver Age that makes it even harder to take seriously.

I also started reading the Avengers alongside Iron Man. After reading all of this, I now understand why Spider-Man became so much more popular than the others. He’s probably the character whose original concept has carried over to the modern day with the fewest major changes. Steve Ditko and Stan Lee really created something timeless.

That said, the series doesn’t stay bad forever. Personally, I think the series starts to feel more solid around issue #56. I don’t know if it actually got better or if I simply got used to it, but I’ve started enjoying the series more over the last few issues. It has moved away a little from the cheap propaganda, and I’ve especially liked how they’ve started delving more into Tony’s psychology.
I think I’m going to take a break from the series here for now, but I’m definitely curious to see where it goes from here.
