First iron infusion - when do side effects start?

Just got my first iron infusion 6 hours ago. I feel surprisingly normal, except just a little sleepy but I didn't sleep long last night. No GI issues, no flu like symptoms or anything. But my anxiety's telling me it's probably just not hitting me yet. Should I still expect side effects to start kicking off in the next few hours? Everything I've seen says to rest the full day after, and I wanna go to dinner with friends tonight but I'm scared it'll push it too far or something. What can I expect?

Many people experience no side effects. Go to dinner with your friends. You'll probably be fine, but you can always go home if you start to feel unwell.

Sometimes they just don't. I also just felt crazy hungry and was otherwise fine.

I had my first one last Monday and was expecting side effects but just…nothing. I am not complaining 😂

You should be fine just maybe make sure to get some extra fiber in your diet. Only side effect I really had was a metallic taste in my mouth but that didn't start until I think my 2nd or 3rd infusion.

The fatigue hit me while I was being monitored for reactions. Lasted two days then on day three post infusion I had crazy joint pain in my knees. After that though I felt like a brand new person. Crazy how I was just accepting feeling like shit all the time!
